Do not kill him, for if you kill him, he will be in the same position as yours before you kill him, and you will be in the same position as his before saying the word that he said Verily, I shall give this banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah will grant victory at his hands Listen and obey, for they are only responsible for their duty, and you are responsible for your duty Reviling a Muslim is Fusūq (deobedience) and fighting him is Kufr (disbelief) Do not initiate the greeting of peace to the Jews or Christians, and if you meet one of them on the way, force him to narrowest part thereof He is not one of us who slaps the cheeks, splits the collars, and calls out with the calls of Jāhiliyyah (pre-Islamic era of ignorance) 'Whoever of you comes to attend the Friday prayer, let him take a shower The miser is the one in whose presence I am mentioned, but he does not invoke Allah's blessings upon me Whoever goes to the mosque in the morning or the evening, Allah has prepared an abode for him in Paradise every time he goes in the morning or the evening O Lord, forgive me my sin, my ignorance, my excess in all of my affairs, and whatever You are better aware of than me. O Allah, forgive me my sins, my deliberate sins, my ignorant sins, my humorous sins, and all of this I have committed. O Allah, forgive what I have done and what I have left undone, what I have committed secretly and what I have committed openly; You are the Advancer and You are the Delayer, and You have absolute power over everything O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the removal of Your favor, the change of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your calamity, and all of Your wrath O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the dominance of debt, the dominance of the enemy, and the gloat of the enemies Say: O Allah, guide me and make me adhere to the straight path, and when asking for Huda (guidance), think of your being guided to the right path, and Sadād (adherence to the straight path) is the straightness of the arrow Put your hand on the part of your body where you feel the pain and say: 'Bismillāh (In the name of Allah)' three times; then say seven times: 'A‘ūdhu billāhi wa qudratihi min sharri mā ajidu wa uhādhir (I seek refuge with Allah and His power from the evil that I find and fear).' He who prays before sunrise and before sunset will not enter Hellfire No one greets me except that Allah restores my soul to me so that I return his greeting A caller will call out: You will be healthy and never fall ill; you will live and never die; you will be young and never grow old; you will live in comfort and never suffer When the dwellers of Paradise enter Paradise, he said: Allah Almighty will say: Do you want Me to give you anything more? If any of you makes ablution and puts on his leather socks, let him pray while having them on, and let him wipe over them without taking them off, if he wishes, except in the state of Janābah (major ritual impurity) I have never seen the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) laughing so heartily to the extent of seeing his uvulae; rather, he would only smile If any of you sees a vision he likes, it is from Allah. So, let him praise Allah for it, and let him recount it. If he sees something else that he dislikes, it is from the devil. So, let him seek refuge from its evil and mention it to no one, for it will not harm him Whoever provides for two girls until they reach puberty, he will come on the Day of Judgment, me and him," and he joined his fingers There is no day wherein the slaves reach the morning except that two angels descend. One of them says: O Allah, give the spender compensation; whereas the other one says: O Allah, give the withholder damage Shall I inform you about the people of Paradise? Every weak person who is looked down upon, if he were to make an oath in the name of Allah, He would fulfill it. Shall I inform you about the people of Hellfire? Every cruel, greedy, and arrogant person Verily, I know a word; if he said it, his rage would go away. If he said: I seek refuge with Allah from the devil, his rage would go away The good vision is from Allah, and the dream is from the devil. So, if any of you has a dream of which he is afraid, let him spit on his left and seek refuge with Allah from its evil, for it will not harm him I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is salvation? He said: "Control your tongue, abide in your house, and weep over your sin I am as My slave thinks of Me and I am with him when he remembers Me I asked 'Ā'ishah, saying: What did the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) use to start with upon entering his house? She said: With the Siwāk (toothstick) No slave covers another slave in this world except that Allah would cover him on the Day of Judgment Let none of you die except while having good expectations of Allah If you are as you say, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will continue to have a supporter against them from Allah as long as you continue to do this Anyone whose feet get covered with dust in the cause of Allah will not be touched by the Fire No people leave a gathering in which they did not remember Allah except that it will be as if they are leaving the carcass of a donkey, and it will be a cause of regret for them The example of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not remember His Lord is like the example of the living and the dead person Verily, among the things I fear the most for you after me is the splendor and adornment of this worldly life when they become plentifully available to you Whoever is pleased to be saved by Allah from the agonies of the Day of Judgment, let him give the insolvent respite or grant him remission The least tortured among the dwellers of Hellfire is a person who has two shoes and two shoelaces made of fire that will cause his brain to boil as a boiling cauldron. He thinks that none is more severely tortured than him, although he is the least tortured among them A believer is brought close to his Almighty Lord on the Day of Judgment, and He bestows His Kanaf (concealment) on him and makes him confess his sins Verily, the devil has lost hope of being worshiped by those who engage in prayer in the Arabian Peninsula, but has not lost hope of sowing dissension between them None of you should pray in a single garment with nothing on his shoulders When you prostrate, place your palms and raise your elbows I prayed with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), and he used to make Taslīm (salutation of peace ending the prayer) to his right saying: "May Allah's peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you," and to his left saying: "May Allah's peace and mercy be upon you The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to Abu Bakr and ‘Umar: "These two are the masters of the elderly people of Paradise, from the first ones and the last ones, except the prophets and the messengers Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn are the masters of the youth of Paradise Whoever regularly observes four Rak‘ahs before Zhuhr and four after it, Allah will make him forbidden to Hellfire Allah does not look at a man who approaches a man or a woman anally Whoever has two wives and is inclined to one of them will come on the Day of Judgment with his side inclined People will continue to be good as long as they hasten to break the fast When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was among us, we used to give out Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of every young and old person, free or slave, as one Sā‘ of food, or one Sā‘ of Aqit (dried yogurt), or one Sā‘ of barley, or one Sā‘ of dates, or one Sā‘ of raisins We had Suhūr (pre-dawn meal) with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), and then he stood for prayer. I said: How long was the time between Adhān and Suhūr? He said: The time it takes to recite fifty verses Do not precede Ramadan by fasting a day or two unless a man has a habitual fast, then let him fast it It is not lawful for a Muslim woman to travel the distance of one night unless accompanied by a man who is a Mahram (non-marriageable male relative) to her Seek out the Night of Qadr (Decree) in the odd nights of the last ten of Ramadan I see that your visions have agreed on the last seven, so, whoever seeks it, let him seek it in the last seven O people, repent to Allah, for I repent to Him one hundred times a day Verily, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) disavowed the Sāliqah (wailing woman), the Hāliqah (shaving woman), and the Shāqqah (woman tearing garment) The Children of Israel were ruled by the prophets; whenever a prophet passed away, another would succeed him. Verily, there will be no prophet after me, but there will be many caliphs Worship at times of chaos is like emigration to me The Prophet of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say during times of distress: "There is no god but Allah, the Most Great, the Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the heavens, the Lord of the earth, and the Lord of the Noble Throne The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not offer a prayer after the revelation of {When there comes Allah’s help and the conquest} [Surat an-Nasr: 1] except that he would say therein: "Subhānaka Rabbana wa bihamdik, Allāhumma ighfir li (Glory and praise be to You, our Lord. O Allah, forgive me) When any of you yawns, let him put his hand over his mouth, for indeed, the devil enters The Muslim's right over his fellow Muslim is six." It was said: What are they, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "When you meet him, greet him with peace; when he invites you, accept his invitation; when he seeks your advice, advise him; when he sneezes and praises Allah, say Tasmīt to him; when he falls sick, visit him; and when he dies, follow him Allah does not look at the one who drags his garment out of conceit Whoever seizes the right of a Muslim person by his oath, Allah will condemn him to Hellfire and will make Paradise forbidden for him." A man said to him: Even if it is something insignificant, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "Even if it is a twig of Arāk The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say in his prostration: "Allāhumma ighfir li dhambi kullahu, diqqahu wa jillahu, wa awwalahu wa ākhirahu, wa ‘alāniyatahu wa sirrahu (O Allah, forgive me all my sins, the small and the great, the first and the last, the public and the private) Indeed, the cursers will not be witnesses or intercessors on the Day of Judgment Verily, your Lord is Bashful and Munificent. He is too Bashful of His slave to let him go empty-handed when raising his hands to Him No people sit in a gathering in which they do not remember Allah and do not invoke blessings upon their Prophet, except that it will be a source of regret for them. If He wills, He will punish them, and if He wills, He will forgive them The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) liked comprehensive supplications and would leave aside anything else Do not curse the wind. If you see what you dislike, then say: Allāhumma inna nas’aluka min khayri hādhihi ar-rīh wa khayri ma fīha wa khayri ma ’umirat bih, wa na’ūdhu bika min sharri hādhihi ar-rīh wa sharri ma fīha wa sharri ma ’umirat bih (O Allah, we ask you for the good of this wind, the good that is in it, and the good that it has been commanded to bring; and we seek refuge with You from the evil of this wind, the evil that is in it, and the evil it has been commanded to bring) None of you should say: O Allah, forgive me if You will, have mercy on me if You will, and grant me sustenance if You will. Let him be determined in his request, for indeed, He does what He wills; none can compel Him May a man's nose be rubbed in dust who, when I am mentioned in his presence, does not invoke blessings upon me. And may a man's nose be rubbed in dust who witnesses the month of Ramadan, then it passes without him being forgiven. And may a man's nose be rubbed in dust who has both his parents reach old age with him, yet they do not cause him to enter Paradise No fasting counts for the one who fasts continuously. Fasting three days is like fasting the entire year What is the matter with those people who said such-and-such? But indeed, I pray and sleep, I fast and break the fast, and I marry women. Whoever turns away from my Sunnah does not belong to me No two Muslims meet and shake hands except that their sins are forgiven before they part Whoever visits a sick person whose time of death has not yet come, and says seven times in his presence: 'As’alullāh al-‘azhīm Rabb al-‘arshi al-‘azhīm an yashfiyak (I ask Allah the Great, Lord of the great Throne, to cure you),' except that Allah will cure him of that sickness Indeed, the hearts of all the children of Adam are between two Fingers of the Most Compassionate, like one heart; He directs it as He wills The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was never given a choice between two things except that he would choose the easier of the two unless it were a sin. If it were a sin, he would be the farthest of people from it Allah will gather the people, the first and the last, in one place, where they will hear the caller and they will be sighted clearly. The sun will draw near, and people will be overwhelmed with anguish and distress that they cannot endure or bear Verily, the believer in Paradise will have a tent made of a single hollow pearl, the length of which is sixty miles. The believer will have wives therein whom he will visit in turn, and they will not see each other The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the man who wears women's clothes and the woman who wears men's clothes Whoever has a sacrifice to slaughter, once the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah is declared, he should not take anything from his hair or his nails until he sacrifices Gold for gold, silver for silver, wheat for wheat, barley for barley, dates for dates, and salt for salt, like for like, equal for equal, hand to hand. If these classes differ, sell as you wish if it is hand to hand Any person who says to his brother: O disbeliever, it will, indeed, fall upon one of them; if he is as he said, or else it will return to him What is below the ankles of the lower garment is in Hellfire The hand is to be cut off for a quarter of a dinar or more Among those who were before you, there was a man who had an injury. He was impatient, so he took a knife and made a cut in his hand and bled to death. Allah Almighty said: My slave hastened to bring about his demise; I have forbidden Paradise for him No one should be flogged more than ten lashes except when it comes to one of the limits set by Allah Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for hunting or for guarding livestock, his deeds will be reduced by two Qirāts every day Verily, I know that you are a stone that can neither harm nor benefit. Had I not seen the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) kissing you, I would not have kissed you Allāhumma laka aslamt, wa bika āmant, wa ‘alayka tawakkalt, wa ’ilayka anabt, wa bika khāsamt. Allāhumma inni a‘ūdhu bi‘izzatika, la ilāha illa ant, an tudillani. Anta al-hayyu alladhi la yamūt, wal-jinnu wal-insu yamūtūn. (O Allah, I surrender to You, I believe in You, I rely upon You, to You I repent, and with Your help I dispute. I seek refuge in Your Might. There is no god but You, that You do not lead me astray. You are the Ever-Living Who never dies, but the Jinn and humans die) When a Muslim—or a believer—performs ablution, and he washes his face, every sin he has looked at with his eyes comes out of his face with the water or with the last drop of water The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach us Istikhārah (guidance-seeking prayer) in all matters, as he would teach us a Surah from the Qur’an When the funeral is placed and men carry it on their shoulders, if it was righteous, it says: Take me forward, A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: As-salāmu ‘alaykum (peace be upon you). He responded to him and then sat down. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ten You have said a word that, if it were mixed with the water of the sea, it would taint it O Abu Sa‘īd, whoever is pleased with Allah as a Lord, with Islam as a religion, and with Muhammad as a messenger, Paradise is guaranteed for him Whoever says: Subhānallāh al-‘azhīm wa bihamdih (Glory be to Allah the Most Great and praise is due to Him), a date palm will be planted for him in Paradise On the Day of Judgment, the sun will be brought close to the people until it is only a Mīl away from them Look at those who are below you, and do not look at those who are above you, for that is more likely to hold you back from belittling the blessing of Allah upon you I said four words three times after I had left you; if they were to be weighed against what you have been saying since morning, they would outweigh them Adh-hib al-ba’sa rabb an-nās washfi anta ash-shāfi la shifā’ illa shifā’uk shifā’an la yughādiru saqama (Remove the harm, Lord of the people, and heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves behind no illness) Indeed, among the most beloved to me and the closest of you to me in position on the Day of Judgment are those of you who have the best morals A dinar you spent in the cause of Allah, a dinar you spent on a slave, a dinar you gave in charity to a needy person, and a dinar you spent on your family; the greatest in reward is the one you spent on your family Successful is the one who embraces Islam, is provided with mere subsistence, and Allah makes him content with what He has given him Whoever among you wakes up in the morning healthy in his body, secure in his dwelling, and has his food for the day, it is as if the whole world has been given to him Then do not make me a witness, for I do not bear witness to injustice Do you not trust me, whereas I am the trustee of the One Who is in the heavens? News from the heavens comes to me morning and evening For you is what you wished, and the like of it along with it Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said: I have prepared for My righteous slaves what no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, and no human heart has ever imagined, He was neither obscene nor indecent, nor was he loud-voiced in the markets. He did not repay evil with evil; rather, he would pardon and forgive Verily, the grave is the first stage of the stages of the Hereafter. If one is saved from it, what comes after it is easier, but if one is not saved from it, then what comes after it is harder The first group to enter Paradise will be like the full moon on its brightest night, and those who will follow them will be like the brightest shining star in the sky Verses were revealed to me, the like of which has never been seen; Al-Mu‘awwidhatayn Were people to know what is in the call and the first row and then they could do nothing but to draw lots for it, they would draw lots Whoever says: Radītu billāhi rabban, wa bil-Islāmi dīnan, wa bi Muhammadin rasūla (I am pleased with Allah as a Lord, with Islam as a religion, with Muhammad as a Messenger), Paradise is guaranteed for him Indeed, wine has been declared unlawful Whoever throws himself from a mountain and kills himself will be in Hellfire, falling down into it and abiding therein eternally forever Give me your pledge that you will not associate anything with Allah, that you will not steal, that you will not commit adultery Beware of insignificant sins I was only sent to perfect noble morals There are seven whom Allah Almighty will shade in His Shade on a Day when there will be no shade but His Shade None of you should point a weapon at his brother, for he does not know; perhaps the devil causes his hand to slip, and then he falls into a pit of the Fire By Allah, he does not believe. By Allah, he does not believe. By Allah, he does not believe." It was said: Who, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "The one whose neighbor is not safe from his evils Allah Almighty said: The son of Adam hurts Me by cursing time, while I am time. The matter is in My Hands, I alternate the night and the day The best of you are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them Indeed, there will be trials. There will come a trial in which the one sitting in it will be better than the one walking towards it, and the one walking towards it will be better than the one rushing to it Allāhumma inni as’aluka al-huda wa at-tuqa wa al-‘afāf wa al-ghina (O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency) May the curse of Allah be upon the Jews and Christians; they took the graves of their prophets as mosques Take these two sandals of mine and go. Whoever you meet beyond this orchard who bears witness that there is no god but Allah, with full certainty in his heart, give him the glad tidings of Paradise The proficient reciter of the Qur’an will be with the noble and obedient angel-scribes, and the one who recites the Qur’an stutteringly and finds it difficult will have two rewards Three hours the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid us from praying or burying our deceased ones in them What is the matter with some people who raise their eyes towards the sky during their prayer?" He went on, using strict words, until he said, "They must stop that, or their eyesight will be snatched away A man who took part in Badr and Hudaybiyah will not enter Hellfire Indeed, when one of you dies, he is shown his place in the morning and the evening The congregational prayer surpasses the prayer of any one of you alone by twenty-five times. And the angels of the night and the angels of the day gather at the Fajr prayer The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the woman who adds hair extensions and the one who asks for it to be added, and the woman who tattoos and the one who asks to be tattooed Indeed, the dearest of your names to Allah is ‘Abdullah and ‘Abdur-Rahmān Whatever intoxicates in large amounts, its small amount is forbidden A time limit was set for us regarding trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, plucking the armpit hair, and shaving the pubic hair—that we should not leave them for more than forty nights Indeed, I do not shake hands with women. My statement to a hundred women is like my statement to one woman There will be rulers who tell lies and oppress; whoever believes their lies and assists them in their oppression does not belong to me, and I do not belong to him The heart of an elderly person remains young in two things: in the love of this world and long hopes Remember the destroyer of pleasures frequently," meaning death Do not enter the dwellings of those who have wronged themselves, unless you are weeping The trials are presented to the hearts, like a reed mat, stick by stick When Allah gathers the first and the last on the Day of Judgment, a banner will be raised for every traitor, and it will be said: This is the betrayal of so-and-so, the son of so-and-so The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us with seven and forbade us from seven Take from his money in a reasonable manner what suffices you and suffices your children Observing Ribāt (guarding the Muslims' frontiers) for one day in the cause of Allah is better than the world and everything in it Whoever takes a false oath to deprive a Muslim person of his property unlawfully, will meet Allah while He is angry with him These animals have instincts like those of the wild beasts, so if you lose control over one of them, treat it in this way Hasten with the funeral, for if it is righteous, you will be taking it forward to what is good; and if it is otherwise, you will be laying evil off your necks When one of you arrives at a gathering, let him greet with peace. When he wants to leave, let him greet with peace, for the first is not more deserving than the last Are you granted victory and provided with sustenance except through your weak ones? Perhaps a disheveled, rejected person at the doors, if he were to swear by Allah, He would fulfill his oath Indeed, this world is cursed, and everything in it is cursed, except for the remembrance of Allah, what aligns with it, and a scholar or a knowledge seeker Paradise and Hellfire were presented to me, and I have never seen anything like today in terms of good and evil. If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much O Abu Dharr, if you cook broth, increase its water and take care of your neighbors The example of the companion of the Qur’an is like the owner of tied camels. If he keeps them tied, he will hold them; but if he releases them, they will run away It is not proper for a Muslim who has something to bequeath to stay for three nights without having his will written with him Say: Allāhumma ikfini bihalālika ‘an harāmik waghnini bifadlika ‘amman siwāk (O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful against what You have made unlawful, and make me with Your bounty in no need of anyone besides You) While a man was walking on a path, he found a thorn branch on the road, so he put it aside. Allah, thus, thanked him and forgave him Do not keep the farmland lest you should desire the world Verily, in Paradise, there is a tree that the rider of a lean, swift horse would travel for a hundred years without reaching its end Verily, in Paradise there is a market to which they will come every Friday The muezzins will have the longest necks among the people on the Day of Judgment By the One in Whose Hand my soul is, it is equal to one-third of the Qur’an If a man intended to commit deviation in it while being in Adan of Abyan (a city in Yemen), Allah would make him taste a painful punishment Wear white clothes, for they are among the best of your clothes; and shroud your deceased in them Either some people stop abandoning the Friday prayers, or Allah will, indeed, seal their hearts, and then they will be among the heedless Whoever abandons three Fridays out of negligence, Allah seals his heart No Muslim is afflicted with a calamity and then says what Allah has commanded: {We belong to Allah, and to Him we will return} [Surat al-Baqarah: 156], O Allah, reward me in my calamity and replace it for me with something better, except that Allah replaces it for him with something better Verily, a verse has been revealed to me that is more beloved to me than the entire world What do I have to do with this worldly life? I am in this worldly life like a rider who seeks shade under a tree, then he goes away and leaves it At the end of time, there will come a people, young in age and foolish in mind. They will speak about the best words of creation, but they will pass through Islam as an arrow passes through its target A believer will remain in the spaciousness of his religion as long as he does not shed inviolable blood Some people from ‘Ukl or ‘Uraynah came, and the climate of Madīnah did not suit them, so they became ill Whoever commits a Hadd (legally punishable sin) and his punishment is hastened for him in this world, then Allah is too just to repeat the punishment for His slave in the Hereafter Verily, Allah is pleased with three things for you and is displeased with three things for you He who has no integrity has no faith, and he who does not keep his covenant has no religion Let not the fear of people prevent any man among you from speaking the truth when he sees it or knows it The first thing the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) started to experience from the revelation was the good vision in his sleep I have never seen anyone with shoulder-length hair and wearing a red garment more beautiful than the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered the privy, a servant and I used to carry a waterskin and a pointed staff, and he would cleanse himself with water Glory be to Allah! The believer never becomes impure Indeed, Allah has made Paradise obligatory for her because of it, or He has freed her from Hellfire because of it If you wish, be patient and you will enter Paradise; or, if you wish, I will supplicate Allah to cure you The supplication of a Muslim for a fellow Muslim in his absence is answered “We were forbidden to follow funeral processions, but the prohibition was not mandatory for us.” Among the people who came before you, there was a king who had a magician Whoever takes care of daughters and treats them kindly, they will be a screen for him from Hellfire The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not observe a voluntary prayer more regularly than the two Rak‘ahs of Fajr O Abu Bakr, what do you think of two persons, the third of whom is Allah? I asked ‘Ā’ishah: Why does the menstruating woman make up for her missed fasts but does not make up for the missed prayers? Verily, the devil can eat from any food upon which the Name of Allah is not mentioned O Messenger of Allah, what if a man comes to me wanting to take my money? There was a man who, as far as I know, lived farther from the mosque than anyone else, and he never missed a prayer This world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever
