عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ رَضيَ اللهُ عنهُ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
«أُنْزِلَ -أَوْ أُنْزِلَتْ- عَلَيَّ آيَاتٌ لَمْ يُرَ مِثْلُهُنَّ قَطُّ، الْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ».

‘Uqbah ibn ‘Āmir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to me:
"Verses were revealed to me, the like of which has never been seen; Al-Mu‘awwidhatayn."

Explanation

‘Uqbah ibn ‘Āmir (may Allah be pleased with him) informed that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Allah revealed to me tonight verses, the like of which have never been seen—meaning in seeking refuge— and they are the two Mu‘awwidhats: Surat al-Falaq and Surat an-Nās.
