Keep on reciting this Qur'an, for by the One in Whose Hand my soul is, the Qur'an slips away from memory faster than camels escaping their tying ropes The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it Do not turn your houses into graves. Indeed, Satan runs away from the house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited Whoever recites the last two verses of Sūrat al-Baqarah at a night, they will suffice him Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah will be credited with a good deed for it, and a good deed is multiplied tenfold The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to remember Allah at all times Allah Almighty said: 'I have divided prayer between Myself and My servant into two halves, and My servant shall have what he has asked for O uncle, say: La ilāha illallāh (there is no god but Allah), a word with which I can defend you before Allah The example of a believer who recites the Qur'an is like that of a citron; it smells and tastes good. And the example of a believer who does not recite the Qur'an is like that of a date; it has no smell and tastes good Whoever does not recite the Qur’an with a melodious voice is not one of us Shall I teach you the greatest Sūrah in the Qur’an? The proficient reciter of the Qur’an will be with the noble and obedient angel-scribes, and the one who recites the Qur’an stutteringly and finds it difficult will have two rewards Have you not seen that some verses were revealed (to me) tonight the like of which has never been seen before? They are: {Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak} and {Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind} Revelation would descend upon the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) on a cold morning and his forehead would stream with perspiration Adorn the Qur'an with your voices Is this what you have been ordered with? That you set the Book of Allah against itself? The people before you were only ruined when they differed about this matter. You have nothing to do with what was going on here. See what I commanded you to do, and observe it and act upon it, and what I forbade you to do, desist from it Do not argue about the Qur’an, for arguing about it constitutes disbelief Indeed, power is in shooting. Indeed, power is in shooting. Indeed, power is in shooting The Hour will not come until the sun rises from the west, and when it rises and people see it, they will all believe Death will be brought forward in the shape of a black and white ram Neither believe nor disbelieve the People of the Book but say: {We believe in Allah and what has been sent down to us The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) did not know where Surahs were to be separated until "In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful" was revealed to him It will be said to the one devoted to the Qur’an: Read, ascend, and recite with deliberation as you used to recite in the world. Your rank will be at the last verse you recite they would listen to ten verses from the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and not move to the next ten verses until they learned the knowledge and application contained therein O Abu al-Mundhir, do you know which verse of Allah's Book that you have is the greatest?" I said: "{Allah: none has the right to be worshiped except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining...} [Surat al-Baqarah: 255]." Thereupon, he struck me on the chest and said: "May knowledge be pleasant for you, O Abu al-Mundhir! When the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) went to bed every night, he would join his palms together and blow into them and recite the Surahs al-Ikhlās, al-Falaq, and an-Nās, The Jews incurred Allah's wrath, and the Christians went astray If you see those who follow the ambiguous verses, they are those whom Allah has named; so, beware of them The extent to which they betrayed you, disobeyed you, and lied to you will be measured against how much you punish them What you say and invite people to is indeed good. If only you could tell us whether there is an expiation for what we did O people, verily Allah has removed the arrogance of jāhiliyyah from you and their boastfulness about their forefathers {Then, on that Day, you will definitely be questioned about your worldly pleasures.} The Prophet (ﷺ) said to me: "Recite to me There should be no envy except in two (cases): A man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and a man whom Allah has given wisdom and he judges according to it and teaches it to others He stood such that the Ka‘bah was on his left and Mina was on his right then he said: This is the standing place of the one to whom Sūrat al-Baqarah was revealed The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a man in charge of an army unit who led them in prayer; he always concluded his recitation with Sūrat al-Ikhlās The example of the companion of the Qur’an is like the owner of tied camels. If he keeps them tied, he will hold them; but if he releases them, they will run away Have glad tidings with two lights that have been given to you, which no prophet before you has been given: Surat al-Fātihah and the concluding verses of Surat al-Baqarah. You will not read one letter of them except that you will be given it While a man was reciting Sūrat al-Kahf, with his horse tied with two ropes beside him You have been endowed with one of the melodious voices of the family of Dawūd There is a Sūrah in the Qur’an consisting of thirty verses. It interceded for a man until he was forgiven On the Day of Resurrection, the Qur'an and its people who acted upon it in the life of this world will be brought forth It was mentioned in the letter that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) sent to ‘Amr ibn Hazm that no one should touch the Qur'an unless he is pure Indeed, Allah elevates some people with this Book and degrades others Indeed, this Qur’an has been revealed in seven different ways, so recite it in the way that is easy for you Ibn ‘Abbās and Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah were asked: Did the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) leave anything? They said: He did not leave anything except what is between the two bindings Sometimes it comes to me like the ringing of a bell, and that is the hardest for me. When it leaves me I remember what it has said. And sometimes the angel appears to me in the shape of a man, he talks to me, and I understand what he says When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) received revelation, he felt distressed and the color of his face changed The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to experience hardship while the revelation was being sent down upon him, and he used to move his lips (quickly) with what was being revealed to him How terrible it is for someone to say: I have forgotten such-and-such verse of the Qur'an, for indeed, he has been caused to forget it. So, you must keep on memorizing the Qur'an for it is more likely to escape from the hearts of men faster than camels Recite the Qur’an, for on the Day of Judgment it will come as an intercessor for those who recite it When you recite Sūrat al-Fātihah, recite "In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful". It is the mother of the Qur'an, the mother of the Book, and the seven oft-repeated verses, and "In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful" is one of these verses It was revealed in the Qur'an that: ten times of breastfeeding known with certainty establish prohibition (Mahram relationship through breastfeeding); then that was abrogated and replaced with five times of breastfeeding known with certainty. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) died while these (words of the abrogating verse) were still being recited as part of the Qur'an ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: Do you have any of the revelation, other than what is in Allah's Book? He said: No, by Him Who grows the grain and originates the soul, I have nothing other than the understanding of the Qur'an, which Allah bestows upon some people, and what is written in this sheet ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I will be the first to kneel before the Most-Merciful on the Day of Resurrection for the dispute We were with the Prophet (ﷺ) while we were young men close to maturity. We learned Imān (faith) before we learned the Qur’an; then we learned the Qur’an, and it increased us in faith There was no prophet among the prophets except that he was given miracles through which people believed in him Anas was asked: How was the recitation of the Prophet (ﷺ)? He replied: "It was with Madd (elongation) that she was asked about the recitation of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to teach us the Qur’an in every state, except when he was in a state of Janābah (major ritual impurity) By the One in Whose Hand my soul is, it is equal to one-third of the Qur’an Rather say: We hear and obey. Grant us Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination there is a verse in your Book; had it been sent down to us, the community of Jews, we would have taken this day as a festival Indeed, Allah Almighty revealed: {Whoever does not judge according to what Allah has revealed, it is they who are the disbelievers} The keys of the unseen are five {Do you consider giving water to the pilgrims and maintaining the Sacred Mosque as equal to believing in Allah and the Last Day} [Surat at-Tawbah: 19] to the end of the verse If a man intended to commit deviation in it while being in Adan of Abyan (a city in Yemen), Allah would make him taste a painful punishment Verily, a verse has been revealed to me that is more beloved to me than the entire world ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to make me sit with the elderly men who had fought in the Battle of Badr. Some of them did not like that Allah, the Exalted, sent down the Divine Revelation to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) abundantly during the period preceding his death until he died at a time when the revelation had never been more abundant If he had come near me, the angels would have torn him to pieces Zayd ibn Thābit al-Ansāri, one of the scribes of the Qur'an, reported: Abu Bakr As-Siddīq sent for me when the people (of the battle) of Yamāmah were killed. I found ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb sitting with him Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamān came to ‘Uthmān when he was preparing the people of the Levant and Iraq to conquer Armenia and Azerbaijan. Hudhayfah was alarmed by their difference in reading the Qur’an O Jibrīl, I have been sent to an illiterate nation among whom there are the elderly woman, the old man, the young boy, the young girl, and the man who have never read a book Recite the Qur’an as long as your hearts are harmonious, but if you diverge, then move away from it I fear two things for my Ummah: the Qur’an and milk. As for milk, they seek the countryside, follow desires, and neglect the prayers. As for the Qur’an, the hypocrites learn it to argue with the believers by means of it Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If [a man] forbids his wife, this is nothing. He further quoted: {There is in the Messenger of Allah a good example to you} [Sūrat al-Ahzāb: 21] Read the Qur’an, as it will come as an intercessor for its companions on the Day of Resurrection Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surat al-Kahf will be protected from the Antichrist." Another version reads: "the last ten verses of Surat al-Kahf Verses were revealed to me, the like of which has never been seen; Al-Mu‘awwidhatayn Indeed, wine has been declared unlawful
