Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw a man enjoying himself in Paradise for cutting a tree that was in the middle of the road and harming Muslims.'' Another narration reads: "A man passed by a branch of a tree lying in the middle of a road, so he said: 'By Allah, I will move this away from the path of Muslims so that it would not harm them.' So he was admitted to Paradise.'' A third narration reads: "While a man was walking on a road, he saw a thorny branch on the road and he removed it, so Allah was thankful to him so He granted him forgiveness.''

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man moving around in Paradise because of cutting a tree that was harming Muslims. Another narration of the Hadīth says that a man was admitted to Paradise and Allah granted him forgiveness because of a branch that he removed from the path of Muslims, whether the branch was dangling from a tree and harming their heads or lying on the road and harming their legs. He removed it away from their path, so Allah was thankful to him for doing that and He admitted him into Paradise.
