Its water is purifying, and its dead animals are lawful If the water is two pitchers, it will bear no impurity Two kinds of dead meat and two kinds of blood have been made lawful for you. The two kinds of dead meat are fish and locusts, and the two kinds of blood are the liver and spleen If a fly falls into the drink of any one of you, he should dip it (in the drink) and then remove it, for in one of its wings there is a disease and in the other there is cure He who drinks in a vessel (made) of gold or silver has, in fact, swallowed in his stomach fire from Hell Were it not that I would cause difficulty for my followers, I would command them to use the tooth-stick with every prayer If any of you wakes up from his sleep, let him blow water out of his nose three times, as the devil spends the night on his nostrils The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was performing ablution; he rinsed his mouth thrice and blew water out of his nose thrice. He then washed his face thrice and his right and left forearms thrice, then he took more water and wiped over his head, and then he washed his feet until he cleaned them The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and passed a wet hand on his forelock, over the turban, and over the two leather socks The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to run the water around his elbows while performing ablution The prayer of a person who does not perform ablution is invalid, and the ablution of a person who does not mention the name of Allah is invalid A man performed ablution and left a small part on his foot equal to the size of a nail unwashed. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw that and said: "Go back and perform your ablution properly." He performed it again and prayed The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to take a ritual bath with one Sā‘ up to five Mudds, and he used to perform ablution with one Mudd There is no Muslim who performs ablution well and then stands and prays two Rak‘ahs while focused on them with his heart and his face, except that Paradise will be guaranteed for him I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over the top of his leather socks If any of you makes ablution and puts on his leather socks, let him pray while having them on, and let him wipe over them without taking them off, if he wishes, except in the state of Janābah (major ritual impurity) The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) kissed some of his wives, and then went out for prayer without making ablution Is it not but a piece of him There is none among you except that his seat in Paradise or in Hell is decreed You praised this, so Paradise has been affirmed for him, and you dispraised this, so Hell has been affirmed for him. You are Allah's witnesses on earth If you pursue the faults of the Muslims, you will surely corrupt them, or you will nearly corrupt them No man accuses another man of defiant disobedience or accuses him of disbelief except that it rebounds on him if his companion is not like that Whoever incites a woman against her husband or a slave against his master is not one of us Whoever forsakes his brother for a year is like shedding his blood Verily, the devil has lost hope of being worshiped by those who engage in prayer in the Arabian Peninsula, but has not lost hope of sowing dissension between them The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade striking the face and branding on the face The son of Adam has been destined his share of fornication, which he will inevitably acquire. The eyes fornicate by looking, the ears fornicate by listening, the tongue fornicates by speaking, the hand fornicates by hitting, the foot fornicates by stepping. The heart loves and wishes. The genitals prove or disapprove that There are two types of the dwellers of Hellfire whom I have not seen: people with whips like the tails of cows with which they beat people, and women who will be dressed yet naked, inviting to evil, and they themselves are inclined to it A man must not look at another man's ‘Awrah (must-cover body part), nor must a woman look at another woman's ‘Awrah The Jews and Christians do not dye (their grey hair), so do the opposite of what they do The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not believe in evil omens Do not keep the fire burning in your homes when you go to bed The bell is the musical instrument of the Satan Those who make these images will be tortured on the Day of Resurrection. It will be said to them: Bring to life what you have created Angels do not enter a house with a dog or an image inside it Angels do not accompany a group of travelers who have a dog or a bell with them If you had been from this city, I would have inflicted pain on you. You raise your voices in the Prophet's Mosque O people, you eat two plants that I only find offensive: onion and garlic O Allah, I ask You for its good and the good of what is in it and the good of the purpose for which it was sent; and I seek Your refuge from its evil and the evil of what is in it and the evil of the purpose for which it was sent The wind is from the blessings of Allah. It brings mercy, and it brings punishment. When you see it, do not swear at it, but ask Allah for its goodness and seek Allah's refuge from its evil Do not swear by Tawāghi (idols) nor by your fathers Do not call a hypocrite a master, for if he is a master, you will have angered your Almighty Lord Whoever swears by the Amānah (trust) is not one of us Whoever swears saying: "I have nothing to do with Islam," if he is lying, then he will be as he said: and if he is telling the truth, his Islam will be defective O womenfolk, give charity, for indeed, I was shown that you form the majority of the dwellers of Hellfire." They said: Why is that, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "You curse frequently, and you are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone deficient in intellect and religion more able to lead and subdue the mind of a stern man than one of you After becoming pure (from menstruation), we would not consider brownish and yellowish discharges to be of any significance Wait for as long as your menstrual period normally stops you, and then take a ritual bath If any of you has sexual intercourse with his wife and then wished to have intercourse again, then let him perform ablution between the two times Whoever performs ablution on Friday, that is good, and whoever takes a bath has done what is better Taking a bath on Friday is obligatory for every pubescent male Muslim, and cleaning the teeth with the tooth-stick and applying perfume if available Beware of the two things that provoke cursing. They said: O Messenger of Allah, what are those two things which provoke cursing? He said: The one who relieves himself on people’s roads or in their shade Take these two sandals of mine and go. Whoever you meet beyond this orchard who bears witness that there is no god but Allah, with full certainty in his heart, give him the glad tidings of Paradise A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand Muslims are safe, and a Muhājir (emigrant) is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden Shall I teach you the greatest Sūrah in the Qur’an? The proficient reciter of the Qur’an will be with the noble and obedient angel-scribes, and the one who recites the Qur’an stutteringly and finds it difficult will have two rewards Have you not seen that some verses were revealed (to me) tonight the like of which has never been seen before? They are: {Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak} and {Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind} The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) fasted on the Day of ‘Āshūrā' I know the last of the inhabitants of Hell to come out of it, and the last of the inhabitants of Paradise to enter it. He is a man who will emerge from Hellfire crawling, and Allah, the Almighty, will say to him: Go and enter Paradise. When he arrives, it will appear to him that it is full. He will say: O Lord, I have found it full Do you find any difficulty in seeing the sun at noon when there are no clouds? They said: No. He again said: Do you find any difficulty in seeing the moon during the fourteenth night when there are no clouds? Allah has ninety-nine names – one hundred minus one – and no one memorizes them but that they will enter Paradise. He is One, and He loves odd numbers The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to sleep while in a state of Janābah without touching water When it is Friday, the angels stand at the door of the mosque and keep on writing the names of those coming in order of their arrival There are angels at the entrances of Madīnah, so neither the plague nor the Antichrist shall enter it Those privies are attended by the devils, so if anyone of you goes to a privy, let him say: I seek refuge with Allah from the male and female devils When the son of Adam recites a verse of prostration and then falls down in prostration, the devil retreats, weeps, and says: Woe unto him, the son of Adam was commanded to prostrate, and he prostrated, so Paradise is for him. However, I was commanded to prostrate, but I refused to, so the Fire is for me No woman should travel on a two-day-distant journey except with her husband or a Mahram Three hours the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid us from praying or burying our deceased ones in them Whoever says upon hearing the call: O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the prayer that is to be established, grant Muhammad Al-Wasīlah and Al-Fadīlah and resurrect him to the Praiseworthy Station that You have promised him, he will be granted my intercession on the Day of Judgment Allah does not accept the prayer of any woman who has reached the age of menstruation unless [she is] veiled None of you should pray in a single garment with nothing on his shoulders The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray on his riding animal, regardless of the direction it was facing. When he wanted to perform an obligatory prayer, he would dismount and face the Qiblah When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey and wished to offer voluntary prayers, he made his she-camel face the Qiblah, said Takbīr, and then prayed towards whatever direction his mount would face All of the earth is a mosque (prayer place) except the graveyard and the bathroom Tasbīh is for the men, and clapping is for the women Revelation would descend upon the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) on a cold morning and his forehead would stream with perspiration Adorn the Qur'an with your voices Do not write down anything from me, and he who wrote down anything from me except the Qur'an, he should erase it. But, narrate from me, for there is nothing wrong in doing so. Whoever attributes any falsehood to me, let him occupy his seat in Hellfire Is this what you have been ordered with? That you set the Book of Allah against itself? The people before you were only ruined when they differed about this matter. You have nothing to do with what was going on here. See what I commanded you to do, and observe it and act upon it, and what I forbade you to do, desist from it Do not argue about the Qur’an, for arguing about it constitutes disbelief If anyone of you is praying behind something that conceals him from people and somebody tries to pass in front of him, he should push him away; if he refuses, the praying person should use force against him for he is a devil The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade praying with one's hands on one's waist When one of you stands to pray, he is privately conversing with his Lord, or his Lord is between him and the prayer direction. So let no one of you spit in the direction of prayer, but only to his left or under his feet Take this curtain of yours away, for its images come to my mind while I'm praying What is the matter with some people who raise their eyes towards the sky during their prayer?" He went on, using strict words, until he said, "They must stop that, or their eyesight will be snatched away Yawning inside the prayer is from the devil, so if anyone of you yawns, let him suppress it as much as he can Spitting in the mosque is a sin and its expiation is to bury it I have not been ordered to build lofty mosques Perhaps you recite behind your Imām? We said: Yes, that is so, O Messenger of Allah. He said: Do not do so except with Sūrat al-Fātihah, since the prayer is invalid for the one who does not recite it When you prostrate, place your palms and raise your elbows I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) praying while sitting cross-legged When any of you prostrates, he should not kneel down like a camel; rather, he should put down his hands before his knees Ibn ‘Umar used to put his hands down before his knees, and he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to do that I prayed with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), and he used to make Taslīm (salutation of peace ending the prayer) to his right saying: "May Allah's peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you," and to his left saying: "May Allah's peace and mercy be upon you Whoever glorifies Allah directly after each prayer thirty-three times, praises Allah thirty-three times, and proclaims the greatness of Allah thirty-three times, these are ninety-nine, and completes one hundred by saying: La ilāha illallāh wahdahu la sharīka lah, lahu al-mulku wa lahu al-hamdu wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadīr (There is no god except Allah. He is One and has no partner with Him. To Him belongs sovereignty and to Him belongs praise, and He is Omnipotent over everything), his sins will be forgiven even if they are like the sea foam Whoever recites the Verse of the Kursi right after each obligatory prayer will have nothing preventing him from entering Paradise except that he dies The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) died with his head resting between my chest and my neck. When his soul departed (his body), it smelled like the best scent I have ever smelled There was no person more beloved to them (the Companions) than the ‎Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him). Nevertheless, they would ‎not stand up when they saw him, knowing his dislike for that ‘Ā’ishah was asked: "What did the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) usually do at home?" She replied: "He was a human being like any other human; he would clean his garment, milk his ewe, and serve himself." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace ‎and blessings be upon him) was sent as a Messenger of Allah at the age of forty. Then he ‎stayed in Makkah for thirteen years receiving the divine revelation. Afterwards, he was ‎commanded to emigrate (to Madīnah where he lived) for ten years, and he died at the age ‎of sixty-three The last glance I had of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was when he uncovered the curtain while the people were in rows behind Abu Bakr Do not revile my Companions, for if anyone of you spends gold equal to Mount ’Uhud (in Allah's cause), it will not be equal to a Mudd or even half a Mudd spent by one of them A man who took part in Badr and Hudaybiyah will not enter Hellfire The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to Abu Bakr and ‘Umar: "These two are the masters of the elderly people of Paradise, from the first ones and the last ones, except the prophets and the messengers Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn are the masters of the youth of Paradise One day the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) brought Al-Hasan and took him up the pulpit with him and said: This son of mine is a master and hopefully Allah will reconcile by means of him two groups of Muslims Anyone who loves Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn has indeed loved me, and anyone who hates them has indeed hated me When Allah wills good for a slave, He uses him before he dies They spoke the truth. They are tormented, and their torment can be heard by all animals This Ummah will be tested in their graves. Were it not that you would not bury one another, I would supplicate Allah to make you hear what I hear of the torment of the grave Indeed, when one of you dies, he is shown his place in the morning and the evening Once, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) stood at the top of one of the forts of Madīnah looking down and said: Do you see what I see? Verily, I see the trials that occur in the midst of your houses as plenty as the raindrops that fall (during heavy rain) The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My advent and the Hour are like these," and he pointed with his two fingers Indeed, this matter will reach everywhere the night and day have reached. Allah will not leave a dwelling in a city or a desert except that He will make this religion enter therein By Him in Whose hand is my soul, a time would come upon the people when the killer would not know why he killed and the victim would not know why he was killed When anyone of you is in doubt about his prayer, not knowing how much he prayed, three or four, let him dispel the doubt and build upon what he is certain about, then perform two prostrations before making Taslīm The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray two light Rak‘ahs after the break of dawn The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not ever leave four before Zhuhr and two Rak‘ahs before morning Whoever regularly observes four Rak‘ahs before Zhuhr and four after it, Allah will make him forbidden to Hellfire May Allah have mercy on whoever offers four Rak‘ahs before the ‘Asr prayer The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) recited: {Say, “O disbelievers”} and {Say: “He is Allah, the One”} in the two Rak‘ahs of Fajr (Voluntary) prayer in both the day and night is performed two by two The most excellent fast after Ramadan is Allah's month, Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night O ‘Ā'ishah, indeed, my eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer thirteen Rak‘ah in the night prayer including Witr, plus two (voluntary) Rak‘ahs of the Fajr prayer Perform Witr prayer before the morning If anyone fears that he will not wake up at the end of the night, let him offer Witr prayer at the beginning of the night; and anyone expects to wake up at the end of the night, let him offer Witr prayer at the end of the night. Indeed, prayer at the end of the night is witnessed (by the angels) and that is better The congregational prayer surpasses the prayer of any one of you alone by twenty-five times. And the angels of the night and the angels of the day gather at the Fajr prayer Whoever hears the prayer call and does not attend the congregational prayer, then his prayer is not valid (deficient), except if he has an excuse O people, pray at your homes, for a person’s best prayer is the one he performs at his home except the obligatory prayer The best of the men's rows is the first, and the worst is the last, and the best of the women's rows is the last, and the worst is the first The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man praying alone behind the row, so he commanded him to repeat his prayer These two prayers are the most burdensome of all prayers for the hypocrites. If you knew what they contain, you would come to them, even if you had to crawl on your knees Announce marriages Any woman who marries without the permission of her guardians, her marriage is void—three times—and if he consummated the marriage with her, she would be entitled to the dowry in return for his copulation with her. If a dispute arises between them, the ruler shall be the guardian of whoever has no guardian No woman should perform the marriage of another woman, and no woman should perform her own marriage. It is an adulteress who performs her own marriage Cursed is the one who has anal intercourse with his wife Allah does not look at a man who approaches a man or a woman anally I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the right of the wife of any of us over him? He said: "To feed her when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, or when you earn money, do not strike on the face, do not revile, and do not forsake except inside the house If a man invites his wife to his bed and she refuses, and so he spends the night angry with her, the angels will curse her until the morning The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the woman who adds hair extensions and the one who asks for it to be added, and the woman who tattoos and the one who asks to be tattooed I do not eat while reclining on my side The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade breathing into the pot or blowing into it Whoever has two wives and is inclined to one of them will come on the Day of Judgment with his side inclined Allah has forgiven my Ummah for the thoughts that come to their minds, unless they act upon them or utter them There are three (people) whose actions are not recorded by the Pen: a sleeping person till he awakes, a boy till he reaches puberty, and a person with an unsound mind till he regains his sanity Let no man stay the night in the place of a previously married woman unless he is her husband or her Mahram It is unlawful to shed the blood of a Muslim who testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, except in one of three cases Whoever is killed in defense of his wealth is a martyr. Whoever is killed in defense of his family, himself, or his religion is a martyr When anyone of you beats his brother, he should avoid the face Allah sent down the verse wherein He prohibited alcohol at a time when there was no other (intoxicant) drink in Madīnah except that prepared from dates Every intoxicant is Khamr (alcoholic drink), and every intoxicant is prohibited. Whoever drinks Khamr in this world and dies while being addicted to it without repenting will not drink it in the Hereafter It is not a medicine, but an ailment Strive against the polytheists with your properties, souls, and tongues ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: I asked for the permission of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) to make Jihad, so he said: Your Jihad is pilgrimage Go back to them and seek their permission. If they give you permission, you can engage in Jihad, otherwise, be dutiful to them I am not responsible for any Muslim who stays among the polytheists I will certainly expel the Jews and the Christians from the Arabian Peninsula until only Muslims are left in it Islam is to prevail and is not to be prevailed over Competitions with prizes are allowed only in camel racing, horse racing, and shooting arrows Indeed, power is in shooting. Indeed, power is in shooting. Indeed, power is in shooting The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered a ram for Al-Hasan and a ram for Al-Husayn for their ‘Aqīqah The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) commanded them to slaughter two similar sheep for a boy and one sheep for a girl (at their birth) A child is held in pledge for his ‘Aqīqah which should be slaughtered on his behalf on the seventh day after his birth, and he should be given a name, and his head should be shaved Verily, Allah has ninety-nine names, one-hundred minus one. Whoever memorizes them all will enter Paradise You will eagerly seek out a position of authority, but it will be a source of regret on the Day of Judgment. How excellent is the wet nurse, and how evil is the weaning one A Muslim cannot inherit from a disbeliever nor can a disbeliever inherit from a Muslim O Messenger of Allah, I left no minor or major sin without committing it." He said: "Do you not testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah? for he did not ever say: My Lord, forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment Do you know what your Lord has said?" They replied: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "He has said: 'Some of My servants have entered the morning as believers in Me and some as disbelievers We find within ourselves thoughts that one of us would find too grave to talk about." He said: "Have you experienced that?" They said: 'Yes'. He said: "That is the clear faith praise be to Allah Who reduced his plotting to whispering Satan comes to one of you and says, 'Who created such and such, and who created such and such', until he says: 'Who created your Lord?' If a person experiences this, he should seek refuge with Allah and desist from that Actions are of six types and people are of four: two imperatives, one and its equal reward, one good deed with ten times as much reward, and one good deed with a seven-hundred-fold reward Allah does not wrong a believer in a good deed; he will be given on account of it in this world and will be rewarded for it in the Hereafter You have embraced Islam along with your past good deeds Allah loves that His dispensations be taken as He loves that His obligations be observed The hypocrite is like a ewe which goes to and fro between two flocks: going once to one and another time to the other Verily, faith wears out within one of you as a shirt becomes worn out; so, ask Allah to renew faith in your hearts Among the portents of the Hour is that knowledge will be taken away, ignorance will prevail, adultery will spread, drinking alcohol will be common, and men will decrease in number while women will increase so much that for fifty women there will only be one man to look after them The Hour will not be established until a man would pass by the grave of another man and say: 'I wish I were in his place.' The Hour will not come until you fight the Jews: until the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say: O Muslim, this is a Jew behind me; kill him By the One in Whose Hand my soul is, the son of Mary will soon descend among you as a just judge. He will break the cross, kill the pig, and abolish Jizyah (protection tax imposed on non-Muslims living under Muslim rule), and the wealth will be abundant to such an extent that no one will accept it The Hour will not come until the sun rises from the west, and when it rises and people see it, they will all believe The Hour will not be established until the time is shortened Allah will grab the earth and roll up the heavens in His right Hand, then, He will say: 'I am the King. Where are the kings of the earth?' My Cistern takes a month's journey to cross it. Its water is whiter than milk, its smell is nicer than musk, I will be at the Cistern so that I see who among you will come to me. But some people will be barred from reaching me. Thereupon, I will say: 'O Lord, they belong to me and my Ummah By the One in Whose Hand the soul of Muhammad is, its vessels will outnumber the stars in the sky and its planets Death will be brought forward in the shape of a black and white ram Your fire is a one-seventieth part of Hellfire The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) related to us, and he is the truthful and the trusted one; he said: "The creation of each one of you is brought together in his mother's womb for forty days and forty nights Everything is decreed, even incapacity and capacity, or capacity and incapacity If Allah decreed that someone should die in a certain land, He makes for him a reason to go there Whoever tells a lie about me intentionally, let him take his seat in Hellfire I am Dimām ibn Tha‘labah, from the brothers of Banu Sa‘d ibn Bakr The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned something and said: "That will be at the time when knowledge disappears Neither believe nor disbelieve the People of the Book but say: {We believe in Allah and what has been sent down to us Do not seek knowledge in order to show off in front of the scholars, or to argue with the foolish; Allah has given a parable: a straight path The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) received divine revelation at the age of forty
