The best Dhikr is: There is no god but Allah The nearest a slave is to his Lord is when he is prostrating, so increase (your) supplications (while in this state) The most beloved speech to Allah is four, and you may start with any of them: Glorified is Allah and High above any imperfection, All praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest There are two phrases that are dear to the Most Merciful, light on the tongue, and heavy on the scale: Glory and Praise be to Allah, Glory be to Allah, the Great Whoever alights somewhere and then says: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, nothing will harm him until he leaves that place When I say: glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest If one recites the last two verses of Sūrat al-Baqarah at night, it will suffice for him Purity is half of the Imān When one mentions Allah's name, on entering his house and when eating, the devil says to his companions: There is no night shelter nor supper here for you. However, when one does not mention Allah's name, on entering his house, the devil says: You have found yourselves a night shelter and supper O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion Do not supplicate against yourselves, do not supplicate against your children, and do not supplicate against your property, lest you do it at a time in which Allah answers all supplications so you will be granted what you asked for Your supplication is answered as long as one of you is not in haste, saying: I have supplicated to my Lord, but He has not yet answered me Which supplication is most likely to be answered? He said: A supplication made in the middle of the last part of the night and after conclusion of the obligatory prayers Whoever says (upon leaving his house) "In the name of Allah; I rely on Allah; there is no might and no power save in Allah", it will be said to him: "You are guided, sufficed, and protected", and the devil will go far away from him I know a word that if he said, his rage would go away. If he said: I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed devil, his rage would subside Allah, Glorified and Exalted, said: I am as My slave thinks of Me, and I am with him wherever he remembers Me During your sleep, Satan ties three knots at the back of the head of each one of you, and he seals each knot with the following words: The night is long, so keep on sleeping The example of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not remember Him is the like the example of a living and a dead person Indeed, Allah is good and accepts only what is good. And Allah commanded the believers as He commanded the Messengers. He says: {O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I am All-Knowing of what you do} By Allah! I ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day O people, seek repentance from Allah and seek His forgiveness. Verily, I seek repentance one hundred times a day No Muslim on earth supplicates Allah, the Almighty, except that Allah answers his supplication or averts from him harm equivalent to it, unless he supplicates for something sinful or for the severing of the ties of kinship Supplications said at the time of distress: There is no god but Allah, the Great, the Compassionate. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the heavens, the earth, and the Honorable Throne The miser is one in whose presence I am mentioned and who does not invoke the blessings of Allah upon me Whoever eats food and says: Praise be to Allah who fed me and provided me with this food through no might or power on my part), his past sins will be forgiven O Allah, forgive all my sins, small and great, first and last Supplication between Adhān and Iqāmah is not rejected O Allah, rectify for me my religion which is the safeguard of my affairs, and rectify for me the affairs of this world wherein is my sustenance, and rectify for me my Hereafter to which is my return, and make life for me an increase for every good, and make death a relief for me from every evil. O Allah, forgive my sins, my ignorance, my excess in my affairs, and whatever You are better aware of (my affairs) than myself O Allah, I ask you for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my weaknesses, and set at ease my dismay. O Allah, preserve me from the front and from behind and on my right and on my left and from above; and I seek refuge with you lest I be swallowed up by the earth O Allah, I ask You for all that is good, now or in the future, what I know and what I do not know. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from all evil, now or in the future, what I know and what I do not know O Allah, I seek refuge in you from withholding of your favor, the decline of my well-being, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all what displeases You O Allah, I seek refuge with You from being overcome by debts, overcome by enemies, and from my enemies gloating over my misfortune In the morning, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the morning, and by Your leave we have reached the evening; by Your leave we live and by Your leave we die; and our resurrection will be to You." On the evening, he used to say the same supplication except that he would say: "and our return will be to You Verily, your Lord is Modest and Munificent. He is ashamed to turn down His servant empty handed when he raises his hands to Him The supplication that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) recited most: Our Lord, give us in this world [what is] good and in the Hereafter [what is] good and protect us from the torment of the Fire The most superior way of seeking forgiveness is for a slave to say: O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me and I am Your slave, and I remain faithful to Your covenant and Your promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favors upon me, and I admit my sins. So forgive me, for indeed none forgives sins except You If people sit in a session where they neither remember Allah nor invoke blessings upon the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) that will be for them a cause of grief on the Day of Judgment Whenever the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) went to his bed, he would blow into his hands, recite the Mu‘awwidhāt, and then pass his hands over his body Praise be to Allah Who gave us food and drink, provided for us sufficiently, and gave us shelter, for how many there are who have no one to provide for them or to give them shelter The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) liked comprehensive supplications and discarded others There are three supplications that will undoubtedly be answered: the supplication of the oppressed Say: O Allah, guide me and keep me steadfast on the right path Do not curse the wind. If you see what you dislike thereof, then say: O Allah, we ask You for the good of this wind, the good of what it contains, and the good of what it is ordered to do. We seek refuge with You from the evil of this wind, the evil of what it contains, and the evil of what it is ordered to do None of you should say: O Allah, forgive me if You will; O Allah, be Merciful to me if You will; but he should appeal to Allah with determination, for nobody can force Allah to do something against His will May the one who hears my name mentioned before him but does not invoke Allah's peace and blessings upon me be humiliated The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from leucoderma, insanity, leprosy, and evil diseases When you (both) go to your bed say "Allah is the Greatest" thirty-three times "Glory be to Allah" thirty-three times, and "Praise be to Allah" thirty-three times Recite Sūrat al-Ikhlās, Al-Falaq and An-Nās thrice every morning and evening, and it will be sufficient for you and will grant you protection from everything If anyone says every morning and evening: “In the name of Allah with whose name nothing on earth or in the sky can cause harm, and He is All-Hearing and All-Knowing,” nothing will harm him Say: There is no god except Allah alone, Who has no partner. Allah is the Most Great, and Glorified with all glorification I said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me a supplication. He said: Say O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, from the evil of my sight, from the evil of my tongue, from the evil of my heart, and from the evil of my semen There are statements of remembrance following the prayer; whoever says or does them will never be a loser Verily, the hearts of all human beings are between two of the fingers of the Most Merciful as one heart; He turns it wherever He wills When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque, he would say: I seek refuge in Allah, the Majestic, and in His Noble Countenance, and in His eternal dominion, from the accursed devil O Allah, I ask You for its good and the good of what is in it and the good of the purpose for which it was sent; and I seek Your refuge from its evil and the evil of what is in it and the evil of the purpose for which it was sent The wind is from the blessings of Allah. It brings mercy, and it brings punishment. When you see it, do not swear at it, but ask Allah for its goodness and seek Allah's refuge from its evil Those privies are attended by the devils, so if anyone of you goes to a privy, let him say: I seek refuge with Allah from the male and female devils They spoke the truth. They are tormented, and their torment can be heard by all animals Satan comes to one of you and says: Who created such and such? Supplication for entering and leaving the mosque That is Satan who is known as Khinzab. If you perceive his effect, seek refuge with Allah from him and spit three times to your left O ‘Abbās, O uncle of the Messenger of Allah, ask Allah for safety in this life and the Hereafter. In the evening, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: The evening has reached, and all the dominion belongs to Allah and praise be to Allah. There is no god but Allah, alone with no partner. O Allah, I surrender to You, I believe in You, I rely on You, I return in repentance to You, I oppose Your opponents. I seek refuge with Your Honor, there is no god but You, that You do not lead me astray. You are the Ever-Living who never dies, yet the Jinn and humans will all die! Recite frequently: Yādha al-jalāl wa al-ikrām (O Possessor of Majesty and Bounty) A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I intend to go on a journey, so give me provision. He said: May Allah grant you piety as your provision There is an hour at night that no Muslim happens to be asking Allah, the Almighty, any good of this world or the Hereafter except that He will give it to him, and this occurs every night Is anyone of you unable to earn one thousand good deeds each day? One of those present asked: How can one earn one thousand good deeds? He replied: By glorifying Allah one hundred times, one thousand good deeds will be added to his record, or one thousand sins will be removed from his record Whoever says "Glory be to Allah and Praise is due to Him", a date-palm tree will be planted for him in Paradise Whenever the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) finished eating, he would say: Allah be praised with an abundant, sincere, and blessed praise. O our Lord, You are not in need of anyone, and we cannot do without Your favor nor dispense with it O Allah, You are my Supporter and my Helper. With Your help I get strength, and with Your help I pounce upon the enemy and defeat it, and with Your help I fight Two supplications are never rejected, or are rarely rejected: supplication made upon hearing the call to prayer and during battle when the two armies are engaged in fighting A mount was brought to ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to ride on, and when he put his foot in the stirrup, he said: In the name of Allah O Allah, Keep me away from reprehensible morals, deeds, inclinations, and illnesses O Allah, we ask You to ward them off (from their throats), and we seek Your protection against their evil The lasting good deeds are the statements: There is no god but Allah, glory be to Allah, Allah is the greatest, praise be to Allah, there is no power or might except with Allah O Allah, I ask You by virtue of my testimony that You are Allah; there is no God but You, the One, the Eternal Refuge, Who did not beget, and was not begotten, and to Whom no one is equal O Allah, just as You made my external form beautiful, make my character beautiful as well I recited four phrases, after I had left you, if they were to be weighed against what you have been reciting since morning, they would outweigh them. These are: Praise and glory be to Allah by the number of His creatures and His pleasure, and by the weight of His throne and the ink of His words O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, miserliness, decrepitude and the torment of the grave O Allah, I seek refuge in You from hunger, for it is an evil bed-fellow, and I seek refuge in You from treachery, for it is an evil hidden trait Shall I not teach you some words which the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) taught me, (it will surely prove so useful) that if you have a debt as large as a mountain, Allah will surely pay it on your behalf? Say: O Allah, Grant me enough of what You make lawful so that I may cast aside what You make unlawful, and bestow upon me Your favor so that I may dispense with all but You O Allah, I seek refuge with You from incapacity, laziness, cowardice, senility, and miserliness. And I seek refuge with You from the torment of the grave. And I seek refuge with You from the trials of life and death When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) traveled, he would seek refuge from the hardships of the journey, from having a change of heart, adverse conditions replacing good ones, the prayer of an oppressed person, and from seeing a misfortune occurring to his family and wealth Whenever the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) mounted his camel while setting out on a journey, he would say Takbīr three times and then say: Glory be to the One who subdued this (ride) for us and we were not ourselves powerful enough to use it as a ride, and to our Lord we shall, indeed, return When any one of you goes to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the end of his lower garment, for indeed he does not know what came unto it after he had left it Seek refuge with Allah from arduous afflictions, degrading misery, preordained evils, and from the gloating of enemies O Allah, verily I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Fire, the torment of the Fire, and from the evil of affluence and poverty Fear Allah and say "Allah is the Greatest" upon every elevated place On sighting the new moon, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would say: O Allah, let this new moon appear on us with security and faith When one-third of the night had passed, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would get up and call out: O people, remember Allah When we ascended (a high land), we used to say Takbīr, and when we descended, we used to say Tasbīh Whoever says "there is no god but Allah, and Allah is Greatest," his Lord affirms it, saying: There is no god but Me, and I am Greatest Abu Sālih used to order us that if anyone of us wanted to sleep, he should lie on his right side The devil said: By Your Might O Lord, I will continue to misguide Your slaves as long as their souls remain in their bodies. The Lord said: By My Might and My Majesty, I will continue to forgive them as long as they seek forgiveness from Me Beware of the invocations of the oppressed person, for, indeed, they rise to heaven as if they were sparks of fire May the fasting people break their fast in your house, and may the righteous eat your food, and may the angels ask forgiveness and mercy for you If anyone says "I ask forgiveness from Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I turn to Him in repentance," his sins will be forgiven even if he has fled from the battlefield The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) invoked evil on the tribe of Banu Sulaym for one month after rising from Rukū‘ in prayer O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my sight, light in my hearing, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light below me, light in front of me, light behind me, make light for me These are the signs which Allah sends, not on account of the death of anyone or life of any one, but Allah sends them to frighten His servants thereby. So when you see any such thing, hasten to remember Him, supplicate Him, and beg pardon from Him O Allah, cure Sa‘d, O Allah, cure Sa‘d O Allah, save ʿAyyāsh ibn Abu Rabīʿah. O Allah, save Salamah ibn Hishām. O Allah, save Al-Walīd ibn al-Walīd. O Allah, save the oppressed believers. O Allah, be hard on [the tribe of] Mudar. O Allah, afflict them with years of famine and drought like the years of Yūsuf (Joseph) My Lord, support me and do not support others against me; grant me victory and do not grant others victory over me; plan for me and do not plan against me; guide me and make my guidance easy for me; grant me victory against whoever wronged me O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, abstinence, and sufficiency O Allah, to You I have submitted, and in You I have believed, in You I have put my trust, to You I have turned in repentance, and for You I have argued. O Allah, I seek refuge with Your power, there is no god but You, that You lead me astray. You are the Ever Living, the One who never dies, whereas the human beings and jinn will all die How can I be at ease when the one with the trumpet has put his lips to the trumpet waiting to hear the order to blow it? O Allah, forgive my past and future sins, and my secret and open sins
