Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Satan comes to one of you and says, 'Who created such and such, and who created such and such', until he says: 'Who created your Lord?' If a person experiences this, he should seek refuge with Allah and desist from that."
Sahih/Authentic. - [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Explanation

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) informs in the Hadīth that Satan comes to a person and whispers to him about things like who created such and such? And who created such and such? Who created the heaven, for example? In response, the person says to himself: Allah. Then, he will ask: Who created the earth? He will reply: Allah. And so on and so forth, until he whispers to him: And who created your Lord? If it reaches this extent, he should desist, stop thinking about that, and say: I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Satan. Thereby, he turns to his Lord to repel Satan's whisperings and protect him from his evil, lest he may ruin his religion and mind. He should also try hard to ward off such thoughts by focusing on other things. He is required to do so and not to further contemplate and seek arguments. Indeed, this is one of the flimsy Satanic suspicions, for it is unreasonable for us to follow the chain of creators endlessly, as it should inevitably end up with a creator who was not created, and that is Allah Almighty.
