May the curse of Allah be upon the Jews and the Christians, for they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship - He wanted to warn against what they did - If it were not for that, his grave would be made prominent; yet, he feared it might be taken as a place of worship Of all the associates, I am the most able to dispense with association. If anyone does a deed in which he associates anyone else with Me, I shall abandon him to what he associates with Me I stand acquitted before Allah that I took anyone of you as an intimate friend, for Allah has taken me as an intimate friend just as he took Ibrahīm as an intimate friend. Had I taken anyone from my nation as an intimate friend, I would have taken Abu Bakr as an intimate friend Verily, Allah, the Almighty, gets jealous. The jealousy of Allah, the Almighty, is when a person commits what Allah has made unlawful for him Do not exaggerate in praising me as Christians praised the son of Mariyam, for I am only a slave. So, call me the slave of Allah and His Messenger Who will be the happiest of people to receive your intercession? He said: The one who says 'there is no god but Allah' sincerely from his heart Whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah, alone with no partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, that ‘Isa is the slave and Messenger of Allah, and His word which He communicated to Maryam, and a spirit from Him; and that Paradise is true and Hell is true, Allah will certainly admit him into Paradise, regardless of the deeds which he has done Whoever dies while invoking anything other than Allah as a rival will enter Hell "Ruined are the extremists!" He said it thrice Allah has written down the good deeds and the bad ones. Then He explained it [by saying that] he who has intended a good deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as from ten good deeds to seven hundred times, or many times over Allah does not look at your bodies or at your forms, rather He looks at your hearts and deeds O My slaves, I have made oppression forbidden for Myself, and I have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another. O My slaves, all of you are misguided except those whom I guide, so seek guidance from Me and I shall guide you I asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): Which sin is greatest? He said: That you set an equal to Allah while He alone created you Verily, Allah gives respite to the oppressor, but when He seizes him, He does not release him Shall I not send you with the same instructions as the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) sent me? Do not leave any image without blotting it out, nor any raised or built-up grave without leveling it The gravest major sins are: associating partners with Allah in worship, feeling secure from Allah's plan, despairing of Allah's mercy, and losing hope in relief coming from Allah He was with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) on one of his journeys, so he sent a messenger ordering: There should not remain any necklace of bowstring or any other kind of necklace around the necks of camels without being cut Whoever is attached to something will be entrusted to that thing Whoever says "there is no god but Allah" and disbelieves in everything worshiped besides Allah, his property and blood becomes inviolable, and his reckoning will be with Allah Those who are merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One in the heaven will be merciful to you The angels descend to the clouds and mention matters which have been decreed in the heaven. The devil then listens to it stealthily and communicates it to the diviners who tell along with it a hundred lies There is no one who bears witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, sincerely from his heart, but Allah will forbid him to the Fire Our Lord, Glorified and Exalted, descends every night to the lowest heaven in the last third of the night and says: Who supplicates Me so that I may answer him? Who asks Me so that I may give him? Who asks Me for forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Do not pray facing graves and do not sit on them Those are a people who, when a righteous slave or a righteous man from among them dies, they build a place of worship over his grave and place those images therein. They are the most evil people in the sight of Allah Islam is built upon five (pillars) The right of Allah upon His servants is that they worship Him and associate none with Him Whoever dies while not associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise Say "I believe in Allah" and then be upright Indeed, Allah forbids you to swear by your forefathers. Do not say: What Allah wills and what so-and-so wills, rather say: What Allah wills and then what so-and-so wills To swear by Allah even if I were telling a lie is dearer to me than to swear by other than Him even if I were telling the truth What is the reason for those people's fear? They willingly accept what is precise thereof, and react ruinously when it comes to what is broadly indicative The seven heavens and the seven earths in the palm of the Most Merciful are no more than a mustard seed in the hand of one of you The Kursi (footstool) in comparison to the Throne is only like an iron ring thrown in a desert on earth There is no infection and no evil omen, and I like a good omen. They asked: What is a good omen? He said: A good word Pursue the right course and be as close to it as possible, and know that none of you will be saved by their deeds. They asked: Not even you, O Messenger of Allah? He replied: Not even me, unless Allah encompasses me in mercy and favor from Him Allah, Glorified and Exalted, said: I am as My slave thinks of Me, and I am with him wherever he remembers Me There is no servant who conceals the faults of another servant in this worldly life, except that Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection We were with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and we were nine, eight, or seven. He said to us: Will you not give a pledge to the Messenger of Allah? He who is inflicted with poverty and seeks relief from people, he will not be relieved; whereas he who seeks relief from Allah, he will be given sustenance from Allah sooner or later Allah has pardoned for my sake the mistakes and forgetfulness of my Ummah, and what they were coerced to do Allah divided mercy into one hundred parts. He retained with Him ninety-nine parts and sent down to earth one part. Because of this one part, creatures show mercy towards each other, so much so that an animal lifts its hoof away from its youngster lest it should hurt it Indeed, Allah is good and accepts only what is good. And Allah commanded the believers as He commanded the Messengers. He says: {O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I am All-Knowing of what you do} When Allah created the creation, He wrote in a book, which is with Him over the Throne: Verily, My mercy predominates over My anger Allah, the Exalted, said: O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and implore Me, I shall forgive you no matter what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I shall forgive you Allah is the Greatest! These are just predictable ways! By the One in whose hand my soul is, you have just said what the Children of Israel said to Mūsa A man said to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): It is as Allah wills and you will. Thereupon, he said: Do you make me an equal to Allah? It is only as Allah wills The people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to emulate Allah's creation Whenever the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a man to lead an army or a military detachment, he would advise him to fear Allah and treat well those Muslims who are with him Allah, the Exalted, said: Glory is My Izār and Pride is My Cloak. I will punish whoever contends with Me over either of them Allah said: The son of Adam tells a lie against Me and he has no right to do so Allah has appointed an angel in charge of the womb, and the angel says: O Lord, (it is) a sperm drop! O Lord, (it is now ) a clot! O Lord, (it is now) a piece of flesh. Then, when Allah wills to complete its creation, the angel asks: O Lord, (will it be) a male or female? Wretched (an evil doer) or blessed (doer of good)? How much will his provisions be? How long will he live? All that is written while the fetus is still in his mother's womb The Kursi is the resting place of the feet, and the size of the Throne cannot be estimated A Jew came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Muhammad, Allah holds the heavens on one Finger, the earths on one Finger, the mountains on one Finger, the trees on one Finger, and the creatures on one Finger, then He says: I am the King Verily Allah said: Whoever shows enmity to a pious worshiper of Mine, I declare war against him. My slave does not draw near to Me with anything dearer to Me than what I have made obligatory for him. My slave continues to draw near to Me by doing supererogatory deeds until I love him Take it off, for it will only increase your weakness. If you die with it on, you will never succeed Guard yourselves against Hellfire, even with half a date Whoever hangs an amulet, may Allah not fulfill his wishes, and whoever hangs a seashell, may Allah not grant him serenity O Ruwayfi‘, you may live a long life after me; so, inform people that anyone who ties his beard, wears a string around his neck, or cleanse himself with animal dung or with bone, indeed Muhammad has nothing to do with him The Rahim (kinship ties) is hanging on to the Hujzah of the Most Merciful; He maintains ties with whoever maintains it (the Rahim) and severs ties with whoever severs it Would you not be content if I maintain ties with whoever maintains you, and sever ties with whoever severs you? Our Lord will reveal His Shin, and then all believers, men and women, will prostrate themselves before Him, but there will remain those who used to prostrate in the worldly life for showing off and gaining good reputation. Such people will try to prostrate (in that situation) but their backs will be as stiff as if it is one bone When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque, he would say: I seek refuge in Allah, the Majestic, and in His Noble Countenance, and in His eternal dominion, from the accursed devil Are you astonished at the jealousy of Sa‘d? I swear by Allah, I am more jealous than him, and Allah is more jealous than me. Because of His jealousy, Allah has prohibited immorality, the apparent and the hidden thereof No one, or nothing, is more patient about the offensive statements he hears than Allah. Verily, they ascribe a son to Him, yet He still grants them good health and sustenance The Hellfire will keep on saying: Are there anymore (to come), until the Lord of Honor puts His Foot therein. It will then say: I had enough! I had enough! [I swear] by Your Honor, and its sides will come together and it will retreat Allah says to the one receiving the least torment in Fire: If everything on earth was yours, would you ransom yourself with it? He says: Yes. Allah says: I had asked you for something easier than that when you were in the backbone of Adam: to not associate partners with Me, but you insisted on associating partners with Me How shouldn't we be contented, O Lord, when You have given us what You have not given to any of Your creation? Then He will say: Wouldn't you like Me to give you something better than that? And they will say: O Lord, what is better than that? He will say: I shall descend My favor upon you and thereafter I shall never be displeased with you The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) did not believe in evil omens Those who make these images will be tortured on the Day of Resurrection. It will be said to them: Bring to life what you have created Angels do not enter a house where there is a dog or an image Do not swear by false deities nor by your fathers Take these sandals of mine, and anyone you meet outside this orchard testifying with full certainty that there is none worthy of worship but Allah, give him glad tidings that he will enter Paradise Do you find any difficulty in seeing the sun at noon when there are no clouds? They said: No. He again said: Do you find any difficulty in seeing the moon during the fourteenth night when there are no clouds? Allah has ninety-nine names – one hundred minus one – and no one memorizes them but that they will enter Paradise. He is One, and He loves odd numbers All of the earth is a mosque (prayer place) except the graveyard and the bathroom When one of you stands to pray, he is privately conversing with his Lord, or his Lord is between him and the prayer direction. So let no one of you spit in the direction of prayer, but only to his left or under his feet Verily, Allah has ninety-nine names, one-hundred minus one. Whoever memorizes them all will enter Paradise Some of My servants have entered the morning as believers in Me and some as disbelievers That is the clear Imān (faith) Praise be to Allah Who turned his scheme into whispering Satan comes to one of you and says: Who created such and such? Allah does not wrong a believer in a good deed Allah will grab the earth Ask whatever you want Is He Who is powerful to make them walk on their feet not powerful enough to make them walk upon their faces on the Day of Resurrection? Shall I not inform you about these three persons? One of them sought refuge with Allah, so Allah gave him refuge. The second one felt shy, so Allah was shy towards him. And the last one turned away, so Allah turned away from him. I love you for Allah's sake. He said: May the One you love me for His sake love you Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day let him honor his guest with his due reward. They said: O Messenger of Allah, what is his due reward? He said: "A day and a night (of excellent accommodation) and hospitality is for three days, and whatever is beyond that is charity offered to him." A rabbi came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Muhammad, we learn that Allah will put the heavens on one finger and the earths on one finger Allah will fold the heavens on the Day of Judgment and then take them in His right hand and say: I am the King. Where are the mighty ones? Where are the arrogant ones? Then, He will fold the seven earths and take them in His left (hand) and say: I am the King. Where are the mighty ones? Where are the arrogant ones? Intercede and you will be rewarded, and Allah will decide what He loves on the tongue of His Prophet If Allah wills to show mercy to a people, He takes the soul of their prophet before them, thus making him a forerunner and an intercessor for them I am more entitled to that (action) than you. Pardon My slave The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) visited me and drank from the mouth of a hanging waterskin while he was standing. So, I got up and cut off its mouth The places that are dearest to Allah are the mosques, and the places that are most hateful to Allah are the markets The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a man in charge of an army unit who led them in prayer; he always concluded his recitation with Sūrat al-Ikhlās A mount was brought to ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to ride on, and when he put his foot in the stirrup, he said: In the name of Allah Allah, Glorified and Exalted, laughs at two men, one of them kills the other, yet both enter Paradise. This one fights in the cause of Allah, so he gets killed. Then Allah accepts the repentance of the killer, so he becomes a Muslim and dies as a martyr Indeed you possess two traits that Allah loves: Prudence and deliberation O people, do not trouble yourselves too much. He Whom you are calling is not deaf or absent. Verily, He is with you, He is All-Hearing and Ever Near When Allah wants to punish a people, the punishment befalls whoever is among them, then they will be resurrected according to their deeds O Allah, I ask You to help me do good deeds and abstain from evil ones, to grant me the love of the poor and needy, and to forgive me and have mercy on me. And if it is Your Will that you put some people to trial (regarding their faith), then make me die without being put to that trial. I ask You to grant me Your Love, the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds that bring me closer to Your Love When Allah fashioned Adam in Paradise, He left him as long as He desired to leave him. Satan started to go round Adam looking at him. Once he saw that Adam had a hollow body, he realized that he was a weak creature If Allah, the Almighty, loves a slave, He calls out to Jibrīl and says: Verily, Allah, the Almighty, loves so-and-so; so love him. So, Jibrīl loves him and announces to the inhabitants of the heavens: Verily, Allah loves so- and-so; so love him; and the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels), thus, love him, and then he is granted acceptance on earth If the slave draws closer to Me by a hand-span, I shall draw closer to him by a cubit; and if he draws closer to Me by a cubit, I shall draw closer to him by the span of two outstretched arms. If he comes to Me walking, I shall come to him running Anyone loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him; and anyone dislikes to meet Allah, Allah dislikes to meet him Indeed, Allah is the One who fixes prices, the Withholder, the Extender, and the Provider. Indeed, I wish to meet Allah while none of you will have any claim against me for an injustice regarding blood or property Verily, Allah, Glorified and Exalted, is characterized by modesty and concealment, and He loves modesty and concealment. Therefore, when any of you bathes, let him conceal himself Allah said: If My slave draws close to Me by a hand-span, I shall draw close to him by a cubit, and if he draws close to Me by a cubit, I shall draw close to him by an outstretched arm span, and if he draws close to Me by an outstretched arm span, I shall hasten towards him Khawlah came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) complaining about her husband, but I could not hear what she was saying Allah creates every maker and what he makes Allah is the Physician. You are only a kind man. The one who heals it is the One who created it Paradise and Hell argued with one another. Hell said: I have been assigned the arrogant and the tyrants. Paradise said: Why is it that only the weak, the insignificant, and the simple enter me? People – or he said slaves - will be gathered on the Day of Judgment naked and uncircumcised Verily, Allah is more merciful to His slaves than this woman is to her child Once a dog was moving around a well, and it was about to die from thirst. When a prostitute from Children of Israel saw it, she removed her shoe, filled it with water, and gave it to the dog to drink. She was forgiven for that Faith is Yamān and wisdom is Yamāniyyah O Abu ‘Ā’ishah, there are three things, whoever speaks of one of them has fabricated a tremendous lie against Allah A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I am weary Indeed, Allah is benevolent and He loves benevolence to everything. So, if you kill, kill benevolently, and if you slaughter, slaughter benevolently. Let one of you sharpen his blade and relieve his animal of suffering No Muslim regularly attends the mosques to perform prayer and remember Allah, but Allah is delighted for him just as the family of one who was away, is delighted upon his return I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) reciting it and putting his two fingers Bear in mind, O Abu Mas‘ūd, that Allah has more power over you than you have over this boy. I said: I will never beat a slave ever again My Lord, support me and do not support others against me; grant me victory and do not grant others victory over me; plan for me and do not plan against me; guide me and make my guidance easy for me; grant me victory against whoever wronged me In prayer, nothing of people's ordinary speech is allowed.
