None of you believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself Indeed, Allah has enjoined Ihsān (kindness/excellence) in all things Verily, some of what reached people from the speech of the early prophets: If you feel no shame, then do whatever you wish Righteousness is good character, and sin is what wavers in your heart, and you dislike that people know about it Shall I inform you of the gravest of the major sins? When a man loves his brother, he should tell him that he loves him “Avoid the seven destructive sins May Allah have mercy on a man who is lenient when he sells, when he buys, and when he asks for repayment of the debt There was a man who used to give loans to people. He would say to his servant: ‘When you come to an insolvent person, overlook his debt; perhaps Allah would overlook our sins.’ Fear Allah wherever you are; follow a bad deed with a good deed and it will erase it; and treat people with good morals Verily, Allah has enjoined kindness in all things Do not get angry Those who act justly will be with Allah on pulpits of light at the right Hand of the Most Compassionate, Exalted be He, and both His Hands are right He who is deprived of gentleness is deprived of goodness Beware of false thought, for false thought is the most untruth speech Do not belittle any good deed, even if it be meeting your brother with a cheerful face The strong man is not the one who can overpower others; rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself when he is angry Whoever guides to a good deed will get the same reward as the doer of that deed A scandalmonger will not enter Paradise Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should say what is good or keep silent Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him The most hated person in the sight of Allah is the most quarrelsome person The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the foremost deed that leads people to Paradise, and he replied: "Fear of Allah and good character Modesty is part of faith Adhere to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise Whoever protects the honor of his brother in his absence, Allah will protect his face from the Fire on the Day of Judgment Verily, Allah loves the servant who is pious, free of wants, and inconspicuous The most perfect believer in terms of his faith is the one who has the most excellent manners, and the best of you are those who are best to their womenfolk Verily, lenience is not found in anything but it adorns it, and it is not removed from anything but it makes it defective Verily, a believer can attain, by his good manners, the rank of one who fasts and prays often Verily, the best of you are those who have the best manners Verily, Allah gives respite to the oppressor, but when He seizes him, He does not release him Make matters easy and do not make them difficult, and give people glad tidings and do not drive them away Those who are merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to the inhabitants of earth and the One in the heaven will be merciful to you The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade qaza‘ (shaving part of one's head and leaving other parts unshaven) We were with ‘Umar, and he said: "We were forbidden from the affectation They are being tormented, but they are not tormented for a major sin. One of them would not save himself from being soiled with his urine, while the other used to walk about spreading malicious gossip Verily, I know a word; if he said it, his rage would go away. If he said: I seek refuge with Allah from the devil, his rage would go away No slave covers another slave in this world except that Allah would cover him on the Day of Judgment Allah divided mercy into one hundred parts. He retained with Him ninety-nine parts and sent down to earth one part. Because of this one part, creatures show mercy towards each other, so much so that an animal lifts its hoof away from its youngster lest it should hurt it Righteousness is good morals, and sinfulness is what your heart is not at ease with, and you hate that people know about it Verily, some of what reached people from the speech of the early prophets: If you feel no shame, then do whatever you wish None of you believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself Injustice will be excessive darkness on the Day of Judgment Reviling a Muslim is Fusūq (deobedience) and fighting him is Kufr (disbelief) Anyone pledges allegiance to a ruler, giving him the grasp of his hand and sincerity of his heart, he should obey him to the best of his capacity. If another man comes forward disputing his authority, then you should behead the latter There is nothing heavier on the believer's scale on the Day of Judgment than good morals. Indeed, Allah detests the one who is indecent and foulmouthed It is one of the major sins when a man abuses his parents. It was asked: Would a man ever abuse his parents? He replied: Yes. He abuses the father of another man, who in return abuses his father, and he abuses his mother, and so the latter abuses the former’s mother Whoever listens to the talk of some people while they dislike that, molten lead shall be poured into his ears on the Day of Judgment Woe to him who speaks and tells lies so as to make people laugh thereby. Woe to him! Woe to him! O Messenger of Allah, who is the best among people? Beware of oppression, for oppression will be layers of darkness on the Day of Judgment; beware of stinginess, as stinginess ruined those before you I guarantee a house on the outskirts of Paradise for the one who refrains from arguing even if he is right The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the foremost deed that leads people to Paradise, and he replied: Fear of Allah and good character. Then, he was asked about the most things that lead people into Hellfire, and he said: The tongue and the private parts On the Day of Resurrection, there will be three categories of people whom Allah will not speak to, purify, or look at Anyone has an atom's weight of arrogance in his heart will not enter Paradise Do you know who the bankrupt is? Whoever reports a Hadīth on my authority that is thought to be false is one of the two liars If you pursue the faults of the Muslims, you will surely corrupt them, or you will nearly corrupt them Whoever incites a woman against her husband or a slave against his master is not one of us Whoever forsakes his brother for a year is like shedding his blood Verily, the devil has lost hope of being worshiped by those who engage in prayer in the Arabian Peninsula, but has not lost hope of sowing dissension between them A man must not look at another man's ‘Awrah (must-cover body part), nor must a woman look at another woman's ‘Awrah A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand Muslims are safe, and a Muhājir (emigrant) is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden Whoever tells a lie about me intentionally, let him take his seat in Hellfire Part of a person's excellence in Islam is his leaving what does not concern him A believer is not a slanderer, nor a curser, nor a person who speaks obscenely, nor a person who uses foul language When Allah gathers the first and the last on the Day of Judgment, a banner will be raised for every traitor, and it will be said: This is the betrayal of so-and-so, the son of so-and-so It is out of glorification of Allah, Almighty, to honor the grey-haired (old) Muslim, and the bearer of the Qur'an who neither exaggerates concerning it nor neglects it, and to honor the just ruler. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day let him honor his guest with his due reward. They said: O Messenger of Allah, what is his due reward? He said: "A day and a night (of excellent accommodation) and hospitality is for three days, and whatever is beyond that is charity offered to him." One will be with those whom he loves An honest Muslim storekeeper, who carries out the orders of his master and pays fully what he has been ordered to give with a good heart and pays to that person to whom he was ordered to pay, is regarded as one of the two charitable persons The bankrupt in my Ummah is the one who will come on the Day of Judgment with prayer, fasting and Zakah, but since he hurled abuse at others, accused others of committing adultery without evidence, unlawfully consumed the wealth of others, and shed the blood of others and beat others, his good deeds will be credited to the accounts of others (who suffered at his hands) Whoever suppresses his rage while being able to vent it, Allah, Glorified and Exalted, will call him before the entire creation on the Day of Judgment so that he can choose whomever of the houris he wishes to have Whoever takes care of daughters and treats them kindly, they will be a screen for him from Hellfire Allah, the Almighty, will say on the Day of Judgment: Where are those who loved each other for My glory? Today, I will shelter them under My shade the day when there is no shade but My shade Intercede and you will be rewarded, and Allah will decide what He loves on the tongue of His Prophet From the gravest of lies is someone who ascribes himself to other than his biological father, or claims to have seen something in a dream which he actually never saw, or ascribes something to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) which he did not say The best of companions in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, is the best of them to his companion, and the best of neighbors in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, is the best of them to his neighbor Where is the one who was swearing by Allah that he would not do a favor? Richness is not the abundance of wealth. Rather, true richness is self-sufficiency The liar is not the one who seeks reconciliation between people, conveying good, or saying good things The believer should not be stung twice from the same hole I was walking with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and he was wearing a Najrāni cloak with a thick hem. A Bedouin approached him and pulled him violently by his cloak Do not say "upon you be peace"; "Upon you be peace" is how you greet the dead. Say instead "peace be upon you" If the son of Adam were to possess two valleys full of wealth, he would seek the third The pleasure of Allah is in the pleasure of the parents, and the displeasure of Allah is in the displeasure of the parents Whoever gives up wearing elegant expensive clothes out of humbleness with Allah, while he can afford it, Allah will call him on the Day of Judgment before all people and let him choose whichever of the garments of faith he would like to wear Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy A believer is the mirror of his fellow believer And verily, Allah revealed to me that you must be humble, so that no one boasts of oneself before another or oppresses another Verily you cannot embrace and suffice all people with your money, but you can embrace and suffice them all with a cheerful face and good manners Whoever exalts himself over others and walks with a swaggering gait (with pride), will meet Allah while He is angry with him Will you not listen? Will you not listen? Simplicity is part of faith, simplicity is part of faith O ‘Ā’ishah, indeed, Allah is gentle and He loves gentleness, and He gives for gentleness what He does not give for violence and what He does not give for anything else Indeed you possess two traits that Allah loves: prudence and deliberation The example of a miser and a generous person is that of two men wearing two iron cloaks covering their breasts up to their collar bones While a man was walking, dressed in fine clothes and admiring himself, with his hair well-combed O group of Muhājirūn and Ansār! There are among you such people who have no property and no kinsfolk. So let each one of you take along with him two or three men Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and arrange for the release of captives Whoever acquires knowledge that should be pursued for the sake of Allah Almighty for the sole purpose of securing worldly gains shall not smell the ‘Arf of Paradise on the Day of Judgment This is mercy that Allah, the Exalted, has placed in the hearts of His slaves. Verily, Allah shows mercy to those of His slaves who are merciful The one who boasts of receiving what he has not been given is like the one who has put on two garments of falsehood Any Muslim who loses three of his children will not be touched by the Fire except in fulfillment of the oath When two people insult each other, the one who started will be the sinner until the oppressed exceeds the limits A man was brought to him, and it was said: This is so-and-so, and his beard is dripping with wine. Thereupon he said: We have been prohibited from spying. However, if we see something evident, we will act upon it It is unlawful for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three (days); so whoever abandons more than three then dies will enter the Hellfire Verily, Allah tortures those who torture people in this world Whoever beats his slave boy or slaps him for something that he has not done, then the expiation for that is to set him free The sanctity of the wives of the Mujāhids for those who stay behind is like the sanctity of their own mothers When your servant brings you your food, if you do not ask him to join you, then (at least) give him a bite or two, or a mouthful or two, for he was in charge of preparing it Leave it, for it is disgraceful Do not curse him, for by Allah, I know that he loves Allah and His Messenger He who has no integrity has no faith, and he who does not keep his covenant has no religion Shall I not tell you who among you are the best and who are the worst? He who does not thank people in fact does not thank Allah A man bought a piece of land from another man, and the one who bought the land found in his land a jar containing gold By Allah! I do give a man and I leave another, and the one that I leave is more beloved to me than the one that I give When you see those who praise others, throw dust upon their faces A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I am weary Procrastination in payment of a debt by a rich man is injustice, but when one of you is referred for payment to a wealthy man, let him be referred You are a person who has remnants of the ignorant pre-Islamic manners. Your slaves are your brothers and servants whom Allah has placed under your authority. He who has his brother under his authority should feed him from whatever he eats, dress him with whatever he wears, and not assign burdensome and difficult tasks to them that are beyond their capacity. If you do this then help them A man from the Children of Israel asked another to lend him one thousand dinars Bear in mind, O Abu Mas‘ūd, that Allah has more power over you than you have over this boy. I said: I will never beat a slave ever again The majority of the hypocrites of this Ummah are its reciters You have said a word that, if it were mixed with the water of the sea, it would taint it Do not envy one another, do not raise prices by overbidding against one another, do not hate one another, do not turn your backs on one another, and do not undercut one another in trade; and be, O slaves of Allah, our brothers Indeed, the cursers will not be witnesses or intercessors on the Day of Judgment Indeed, among the most beloved to me and the closest of you to me in position on the Day of Judgment are those of you who have the best morals He was neither obscene nor indecent, nor was he loud-voiced in the markets. He did not repay evil with evil; rather, he would pardon and forgive I was only sent to perfect noble morals
