Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Everyone of my Ummah will enter Paradise except those who refuse.” It was said: "Who does refuse, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "He who obeyed me, shall enter Paradise, and who disobeyed me, indeed he has refused.''

Explanation

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) gave his Ummah glad tidings that everyone of them will enter Paradise. Ummah here means; people who accepted his message. However, he made an exception of those who refuse to enter Paradise because they disobeyed him. Indeed, anyone who abandons the cause of something, without which it can not exist, has indeed refused. The exception that the Prophet made to those who refused is indeed a serious warning; either to the Ummah of acceptance (Muslims), or the Ummah of the Islamic call (non-Muslims). The Companions wondered who would refuse to enter Paradise. The Prophet told them that those who comply with his teachings will enter Paradise, and those who disobey him by disbelieving or committing prohibitions, have refused to enter Paradise. Finally, those who do not obey the Prophet and rather disbelieve in him will never enter Paradise. Muslims who disobey him will not enter Paradise only after they are purified by Hellfire. They might be forgiven and receive no torment, even though they have committed all kinds of sins.
