Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be in the latter time of my Ummah people who will narrate to you what neither you nor your fathers have heard. Beware of them."
Sahih/Authentic. - [Muslim]

Explanation

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) informs in the Hadīth about what will happen in the latter time of his Ummah after his death and that there will emerge people who will fabricate lies and narrate false Hadīths not reported by anyone before them. So, the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) commands us to distance ourselves from them and not to sit with them or listen to their fabricated Hadīths, lest they may be so ingrained in our hearts that we cannot get rid of them. Moreover, we should not accept or share any Hadīth before verifying its authenticity.

Benefits from the Hadith

  1. The Hadīth contains one of the signs proving the trueness of the Prophet's prophethood, as he informed about what would happen in his Ummah, and it did happen as he foretold.
  2. We should keep away from those who fabricate lies about the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and about Islam and not to listen to their falsehood.
