Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs Hajj and does not commit obscenity or commit any evil therein will go back (free of sin) as on the day his mother gave birth to him."
Sahih/Authentic. - [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Explanation

A Muslim who makes Hajj for the sake of Allah, the Almighty, and does not say foul words or do something bad during the Hajj rituals shall return as clear from sins as on the day he was born. The sins and misdeeds forgiven in Hajj are the minor ones, but major sins require repentance.

Benefits from the Hadith

  1. Hajj educates the soul to refrain from intimacy and acts of immorality.
  2. Hajj blots out misdeeds and sins committed before its performance.
  3. Even though immorality is forbidden at all times, it is more so during Hajj out of respect for the rituals in the Sacred House of Allah.
  4. One is born free from faults and sins, for one does not bear the sins of someone else.
