عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ رضي الله عنهما أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:
«إِذَا دَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ بَيْتَهُ، فَذَكَرَ اللهَ عِنْدَ دُخُولِهِ وَعِنْدَ طَعَامِهِ، قَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ: لَا مَبِيتَ لَكُمْ، وَلَا عَشَاءَ، وَإِذَا دَخَلَ، فَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللهَ عِنْدَ دُخُولِهِ، قَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ: أَدْرَكْتُمُ الْمَبِيتَ، وَإِذَا لَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللهَ عِنْدَ طَعَامِهِ، قَالَ: أَدْرَكْتُمُ الْمَبِيتَ وَالْعَشَاءَ».

Yabir Ibn 'Abdul-lah —que Al-lah esté complacido con él— narró haber escuchado decir al Profeta —la paz y las bendiciones de Al-lah sean con él—:
«Cuando una persona menciona el nombre de Al-lah al entrar en su casa y al comer, el Demonio dice (a sus compañeros): "No tienen aquí esta noche ni refugio ni cena". Si al entrar no menciona a Al-lah, el Demonio les dice: "Han conseguido aquí un lugar para pasar la noche". Y si tampoco mencionan el nombre de Al-lah al empezar a comer, les dice: "Tienen aquí para esta noche refugio y cena"».
