‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was the most generous of people, and he used to be more generous than ever in Ramadan, when Jibrīl would meet him. He used to meet him every night during Ramadan to revise the Qur'an with him. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was more generous than the fast wind.

Explanation

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was the most generous of people, with his wealth, effort, knowledge, Da‘wah, advice, and everything of benefit to humankind. He was even more generous during Ramadan, the month of generosity, when Allah, the Almighty, gives generously to His slaves, and the good slaves show generosity to one another. The Prophet’s utmost generosity would be shown when Jibrīl met with him every night in Ramadan to revise the Qur’an with him to help him memorize it firmly and also gain the reward for such study and revision. So, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was more bountiful in Ramadan than a fast wind, as he hastened to do good deeds and show generosity during this blessed month.
