1. I went to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and asked: 'We live in the land of the People of the Book; can we eat in their plates?" 2. O Messenger of Allah, may anyone of us sleep while being ritually impure? He said: Yes, he may sleep if he makes ablution 3. Allah, the Exalted, says: "My reward shall be nothing less than Paradise for My faithful servant who, if I take the life of his beloved one from the inhabitants of the world, he bears it patiently in expectation of My reward." 4. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey and he performed the ‘Ishā prayer, reciting in one of the two Rak‘ahs Sūrat At-Tīn. I have never heard anyone with a better voice or recitation than his 5. People were commanded to make (Tawāf around) the Ka‘bah the last thing they do, but an exception was made for the menstruating woman 6. Your supplication is answered as long as one of you is not in haste, saying: I have supplicated to my Lord, but He has not yet answered me - 2 ملاحظة 7. Then return to your parents and accompany them in a best way 8. When you put on clothes and when you perform ablution, you should begin with your right side 9. The Kursi (footstool) in comparison to the Throne is only like an iron ring thrown in a desert on earth 10. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would visit the mosque of Qubā' riding or walking, then he would pray there two Rak‘ahs 11. No soul gets killed wrongfully without the first son of Adam taking guilt for its blood because he was the first to institute the practice of murder 12. I came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) while he was cleansing his mouth with a ripe tooth-stick. The edge of the tooth-stick was on his tongue and he was making a sound like: “ugh, ugh” as if he was heaving, and the tooth-stick was in his mouth 13. Abdur-Rahmān ibn Abi Bakr visited the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) as I had the Prophet's head reclined on my chest. ‘Abdur-Rahmān (may Allah be pleased with him) had a fresh tooth-stick and was brushing his teeth with. The Messenger kept his eye on it 14. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the ‘Ishā' prayer until part of the night had passed and it was dark. ‘Umar came to him saying: O Messenger of Allah, come to pray, the women and children have slept. He came out with his head dripping with water and said: Had it not been hard for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to perform that prayer at this hour - 1 ملاحظة 15. Wake up ‘Āʾishah and pray Witr 16. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which part of the prayer is the best? He replied: The long standing 17. Were this world worth a wing of a mosquito in the sight of Allah, He would not have given the disbeliever a drink of water thereof 18. Every Ummah has a trial, and the trial of my Ummah is wealth - 1 ملاحظة 19. A huge fat man will come on the Day of Judgment weighing less than a mosquito wing in the sight of Allah 20. If I had gold equal to the mountain of Uhud, it would please me that I should have nothing left of it with me after the passage of three nights, except what I might retain to repay a debt 21. This world in comparison with the Hereafter is like the amount of water one of you gets when he dips his finger in the sea. Let him see what his finger returns with 22. He who is inflicted with poverty and seeks relief from people, he will not be relieved; whereas he who seeks relief from Allah, he will be given sustenance from Allah sooner or later 23. Anyone spends a pair in the way of Allah will be called from the gates of Paradise: O slave of Allah, this is good! So, whoever was from the people of prayer will be called from the gate of prayer; whoever was from the people of Jihad will be called from the gate of Jihad 24. Whoever has seen me in a dream will see me when he is awake – or it is as if he has seen me while he is awake; the devil does not take my shape 25. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) died when my house was void of any edible thing except for a small quantity of barley I had on a shelf and from which I kept eating it for a long time. Then when I measured what was left of it, it soon finished 26. The dead person is followed by three: His family, his wealth and his deeds. Then two of them come back: His family and his wealth, and there remain only his deeds 27. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to sleep at the beginning of the night and rise at its end to pray 28. Allah divided mercy into one hundred parts. He retained with Him ninety-nine parts and sent down to earth one part. Because of this one part, creatures show mercy towards each other, so much so that an animal lifts its hoof away from its youngster lest it should hurt it 29. Allah is happier with the repentance of His slave than one of you is with finding his riding camel after having lost it in a desert 30. Allah, Blessed and Exalted, accepts the slave's repentance as long as the death rattle has not yet reached his throat 31. None of you should fast on Friday, unless he fasts a day before it or a day after it 32. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would sometimes get up at the time of Fajr while in a state of Janābah after having sexual intercourse with his wives, then he would take a ritual bath and fast 33. When the night approaches from this side, and the day retreats from that side, then it is time for the fasting person to break his fast 34. By Allah! I ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day 35. When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) missed prayer at night because of sickness or otherwise, he would pray twelve Rak‘ahs during the daytime 36. O Allah, treat harshly those who rule over my nation with harshness and treat gently those who rule over my nation with gentleness 37. Shall I not inform of whom Hellfire is forbidden for? Or he is forbidden for Hellfire? It is forbidden for someone who is accessible, lenient, tender, and easy to get along with - 1 ملاحظة 38. Be patient, for no time will come but will be followed by a worse one until you meet your Lord 39. When Allah created the creation, He wrote in a book, which is with Him over the Throne: Verily, My mercy predominates over My anger 40. My example and your example is that of a person who lit a fire, and grasshoppers and moths began to fall in it, while he is attempting to push them away. I am holding you back from the fire, but you are slipping from my hand - 1 ملاحظة 41. At every part of the night, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) prayed Witr: at its beginning, middle, and end. Finally he settled on performing Witr just before dawn 42. Anyone pledges allegiance to a ruler, giving him the grasp of his hand and sincerity of his heart, he should obey him to the best of his capacity. If another man comes forward disputing his authority, then you should behead the latter 43. It is one of the major sins when a man abuses his parents. It was asked: Would a man ever abuse his parents? He replied: Yes. He abuses the father of another man, who in return abuses his father, and he abuses his mother, and so the latter abuses the former’s mother 44. Whoever attends a funeral until he offers the funeral prayer will get a reward equal to one Qirāt; and whoever attends it until the dead person is buried will get a reward equal to two Qirāts. It was asked: What are the two Qirāts? He replied: Like two huge mountains 45. Shall I inform you about the most beloved words by Allah? They are: Glory belongs to Allah and praise is due to Him 46. If any of you is assigned by us to a position but conceals a needle or more from us, it will amount to misappropriation and he will be called upon to restore it on the Day of Judgment 47. The one who is afraid (of the pillage of the enemy) sets out in the early part of the night, and the one who sets out early will reach his destination. Verily, the commodity of Allah is precious. Verily, the commodity of Allah is Paradise - 1 ملاحظة 48. By the One in Whose hand my soul is, if you were not to commit sins, Allah would replace you with people who would commit sins and then seek forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty, who would then forgive them 49. If you insist on sitting there, then give the road its due rights. They said: What are its rights? He said: Lowering the gaze, refraining from doing harm (to others), returning the greeting, enjoining what is good, and forbidding what is evil 50. Woe to him who speaks and tells lies so as to make people laugh thereby. Woe to him! Woe to him! 51. I guarantee a house on the outskirts of Paradise for the one who refrains from arguing even if he is right - 1 ملاحظة 52. When the Imām says amen, you too say amen, for whoever says amen at the same time the angels say amen will have his previous sins forgiven 53. He who gives in charity the value of a date which was lawfully earned, and Allah only accepts that which has been lawfully earned, then Allah will accept it with His right hand and nurture it for him, just as one of you nurtures his foal, until it becomes like a mountain 54. The Hadīth on Intercession 55. If any of you leads the people in prayer, let him shorten it, because among them are the weak, the sick, and the busy. If any of you prays alone, then let him prolong (his prayer) as much as he wishes 56. Praise be to Allah Who gave us food and drink, provided for us sufficiently, and gave us shelter, for how many there are who have no one to provide for them or to give them shelter 57. There are three supplications that will undoubtedly be answered: the supplication of the oppressed 58. The most despicable name in the sight of Allah is that of a man named the King of kings. There is no king but Allah 59. Shall I tell you what ‘ada is? It is calumny which is committed among the people 60. Wretched is the slave of the dinar! Wretched is the slave of the dirham! Wretched is the slave of Khamīsah! Wretched is the slave of velvet! If given, he is pleased, but if not, he is displeased. May he be wretched and may he relapse, and if he is pierced with a thorn, may he not find anyone to take it out for him - 1 ملاحظة 61. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from leucoderma, insanity, leprosy, and evil diseases 62. The difference between our fasting and the fasting of the People of the Book is the Suhūr meal 63. I said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me a supplication. He said: Say O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, from the evil of my sight, from the evil of my tongue, from the evil of my heart, and from the evil of my semen 64. Anyone has an atom's weight of arrogance in his heart will not enter Paradise 65. If I were to live till the next year, I would definitely fast the ninth day - 1 ملاحظة 66. He who is asked something he knows and conceals it will have a bridle of fire put on him on the Day of Resurrection 67. He who feeds a fasting person will earn the same reward as him - 2 ملاحظة 68. A Muslim person must listen and obey concerning what he likes and hates, unless he is ordered to commit a sin. If he is ordered to commit a sin, then he should neither listen nor obey 69. Madīnah is a sanctuary from ‘Ayr to Thawr (mountains). Whoever innovates something new (in religion) or shelters an innovator in it will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, and Allah will accept from him neither an obligatory nor a supererogatory prayer on the Day of Resurrection 70. The Sirāt will be placed over the center of Hell, covered with thorns similar to the thorns of the Sa‘dān. Then, people will pass over it; some will be safe without any harm, some will be safe after receiving some scratches, and some will fall down into Hell 71. Are you astonished at the jealousy of Sa‘d? I swear by Allah, I am more jealous than him, and Allah is more jealous than me. Because of His jealousy, Allah has prohibited immorality, the apparent and the hidden thereof 72. The dwellers of Paradise will look at the dwellers of the lofty chambers above them in the same way that you look at a shining star far away on the horizon, in the East or in the West, due to their superiority over one another 73. A place in Paradise as small as a bow is better than all that upon which the sun rises and sets 74. He who drinks in a vessel (made) of gold or silver has, in fact, swallowed in his stomach fire from Hell 75. Were it not that I would cause difficulty for my followers, I would command them to use the tooth-stick with every prayer 76. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) kissed some of his wives, and then went out for prayer without making ablution 77. There is none among you except that his seat in Paradise or in Hell is decreed 78. The son of Adam has been destined his share of fornication, which he will inevitably acquire. The eyes fornicate by looking, the ears fornicate by listening, the tongue fornicates by speaking, the hand fornicates by hitting, the foot fornicates by stepping. The heart loves and wishes. The genitals prove or disapprove that - 1 ملاحظة 79. O people, you eat two plants that I only find offensive: onion and garlic 80. O Allah, I ask You for its good and the good of what is in it and the good of the purpose for which it was sent; and I seek Your refuge from its evil and the evil of what is in it and the evil of the purpose for which it was sent - 1 ملاحظة 81. The wind is from the blessings of Allah. It brings mercy, and it brings punishment. When you see it, do not swear at it, but ask Allah for its goodness and seek Allah's refuge from its evil 82. If any of you has sexual intercourse with his wife and then wished to have intercourse again, then let him perform ablution between the two times 83. Shall I teach you the greatest Sūrah in the Qur’an? 84. Do not write down anything from me, and he who wrote down anything from me except the Qur'an, he should erase it. But, narrate from me, for there is nothing wrong in doing so. Whoever attributes any falsehood to me, let him occupy his seat in Hellfire - 1 ملاحظة 85. Take this curtain of yours away, for its images come to my mind while I'm praying 86. There was no person more beloved to them (the Companions) than the ‎Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him). Nevertheless, they would ‎not stand up when they saw him, knowing his dislike for that - 1 ملاحظة 87. One day the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) brought Al-Hasan and took him up the pulpit with him and said: This son of mine is a master and hopefully Allah will reconcile by means of him two groups of Muslims 88. Anyone who loves Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn has indeed loved me, and anyone who hates them has indeed hated me - 1 ملاحظة 89. (Voluntary) prayer in both the day and night is performed two by two - 1 ملاحظة 90. The most excellent fast after Ramadan is Allah's month, Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night 91. O ‘Ā'ishah, indeed, my eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep - 2 ملاحظة 92. Perform Witr prayer before the morning 93. If anyone fears that he will not wake up at the end of the night, let him offer Witr prayer at the beginning of the night; and anyone expects to wake up at the end of the night, let him offer Witr prayer at the end of the night. Indeed, prayer at the end of the night is witnessed (by the angels) and that is better 94. Let no man stay the night in the place of a previously married woman unless he is her husband or her Mahram 95. Islam is to prevail and is not to be prevailed over 96. Verily, Allah has ninety-nine names, one-hundred minus one. Whoever memorizes them all will enter Paradise
