عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:
«تَهَادَوا تَحَابُّوا».

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"Give gifts to one another; you will love one another."

Explanation

The Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged Muslims to exchange gifts with one another, for gifts are among the causes of love and bringing hearts together.

Benefits from the Hadith

  1. It is recommended to give gifts, because the Prophet (ﷺ) commanded it.
  2. A gift is a cause of love.
  3. A person should do everything that brings about affection between himself and others—whether through giving gifts, being gentle in manner, speaking kindly, or showing a cheerful face—as much as he can.
