عن أنس رضي الله عنه قال: قال رجلٌ: يا رسول الله، الرجلُ مِنّا يَلقى أخاه، أو صديقَه، أَيَنْحَني له؟ قال: «لا»، قال: أَفَيَلْتَزِمُهُ ويُقبِّلُهُ؟ قال: «لا» قال: فيأخذ بيده ويصافحُهُ؟ قال: «نعم».

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, when a man amongst us meets a brother or a friend, should he bow to him?" He said: ‘No.’ He said: "Should he embrace and kiss him?" He said: ‘No.’ He said: "Should he take his hand and shake it?" He said: ‘Yes.’”

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about whether a person should bow upon meeting someone else, and he said: He should not bow. He was further asked about whether he should hug and embrace him, and he replied in the negative. Then, the questioner asked him about whether he should shake hands with him, and he said: ‘Yes.’
